They're scraping the bottom of the barrel plucking someone from Iowa's skill transfers. Dude had no stats and failed to make an impact on the worst offense in the land.
they need warm bodies but yeah a lot of bargain bin diving going on there

So what's the deal here then with the dismissals?
Die hard Aggie here. Don’t mind me. Just lurking out of curiosity. They seem to just be cuts after bringing in the transfers to get to their scholarship number. Bobby Taylor was a great guy and tremendous athlete that never seemed to seriously take off.

The starting center, Bryce Foster, for the 3rd year in a row skipped spring ball for track and field. He was highly recruited and talented athlete. That being said, his focus on track and field was extremely noticeable last season. He very consistently had poor snaps in the shotgun that would set our qb up for failure. And the entire o-line along with foster struggled to give our qb any type of protection at all. I’m sure elko didn’t want to get rid of him but if any unit was in dire need to be re-taught how to do their job in the spring, it was the o-line. I don’t think elko is being petty by cutting him for having a passion for track and field, but obviously that was going to be detrimental to his performance in the fall so they cut him. Don’t know much about the third guy but no reason to think his situation was any different from Foster’s or Taylor’s.

50% of me: Welcome to the site and thanks for your contributions!

50% of me: The nearest tar-pit is 10 miles from here. Kindly walk towards it.

This is the sheer duality of man you have wandered into Aggie. Great times are had by all.

Thanks for the update and welcome. Just remember, you're on an ND forum so expect some push back at times.

Welcome to the forum. We have a couple other SEC guys who lurk in here, and we always appreciate the opposing viewpoint.

Pretty unreal we got the night game over Clemson v UGA. Also beat out them, USC / LSU, PSU / WVU, and Miami / UF for gameday.

Just in case anyone doubted the brand.

Absolutely shocking!

they play every year, or used to
I'm misremembering. I thought they played in 2019, but that was the second game of the Home & Home with the Aggies. They did kick off the year in 2021 against UGA. Neither offense did a thing (predictably)

It really is. Need to win this game. Like our chances if oline and offensive tackles come through. Eager to see how Riley Leonard plays.

Welcome! We do appreciate opposing viewpoints as others mentioned. Trolls get the boot, but you don't seem that way. We love Elko around here obviously, he helped transform our defense until he headed your way the first time. FWIW, this is the game I'm most worried about on our schedule this year. I think you guys still have a ton of talent and Elko knows how to develop them. Your environment is tough to play in, especially at night. There will be a ton of momentum for whoever wins this one I think.

Generally curious as to why people seem to be nervous about this game. Should be a fine. No one on this team scares me whatsoever.
Their defense should be salty. I don’t care about all the transfers as Elko should have minimal issues getting the D on the same page as opposed to a new OL that has to work in unison. He picked up the leader in sacks last year from the B1G for his rush end to go along w/ what he inherited. IMO, this game comes down to whichever offense doesn’t make the most mistakes. Should be a low scoring affair based on the two defenses.

We’re +1.5. Vegas knows something

Yeah, they know that ND’s starting QB hasn’t worked with his receivers enough yet, that home field is worth 3 points, that ND is gonna struggle with heat-related issues at an inopportune time, and that Elko’s defensive chops have the chance to be an equalizer in a game that could be a low-scoring battle.

In Denbrock I trust, though.

II just looked up the week one schedule and Clemson vs. Georgia have played a fair amount recently. Clemson is coming off their worst year in about a decade. USC vs. LSU is on Sunday in Las Vegas, Penn State vs. West Virginia is a heated rivalry, but they also played last year, and Miami vs. Florida doesn't have the appeal that it would say 20 years ago. This one is an easy sell in my opinion. Likely a top 10 Notre Dame team going deep into the heart of Texas. You've got two teams that don't play each other too often plus the whole RL and Elko factor.

I expect that UGA absolutely murks Clemson Week 1. Think we could see something along the lines of Bama/Miami 2021.

Georgia and Clemson are old rivals. They used to meet annually until the late 80's.

Since then, they've met on and off around every few years. They did home-and-homes in '94 and '95, then again in '02 and '03, and then again in '13 and '14.

I'm just worried about this game due to the fact if they somehow lose, all the hot takes of "notre dame is overrated again" will be unbearable. The media and fans today everywhere are so reactionary with off the wall comments/opinions for likes and views that I haven't watched much espn or anything like that in years. But I guess I'm just like this now:Old_Man_Yells_at_cloud_cover.jpgI seem to be getting old really fast these days.

We don’t play many “premium” games this year. It might be Gameday’s only chance at the Irish.
Only other opportunity would be week 11 vs FSU, Other big games that week are Bama@LSU, Wash@PSU, UGA@Ole Piss, BYU@Utah. Outside of the SEC games we have a good shot to get Game Day, especially if we’re both undefeated and Bama and UGA have a loss to two. Their schedules are way more difficult this year so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
