I'm fine with them moving on from May. He's a prospect that's got the traits they are looking for but far from a sure thing. I didn't like him at all as a Rush Edge. He's probably better suited to be a Big End but even there he comes off as a tweener to me.

ND needs some true Vypers and with May's Scholarship open they need to push to get a 1-2 punch of Shanklin and Ikinnagbon.

It's like how we have position number goals but some guys are takes no matter what. You wanna get treated like a 5 star, be a 5 star
You think most of these kids don't think they are better than they are. They are going to have tier two schools throwing money at them and we're gonna say well ya know you aren't as good as Jimmy so he can take visits but you can't and expect him to just stay?

We'll see how that plays out.

So what do you suggest as an alternative strategy here?

i certainly think you have to encourage that a place in the class would be at risk if visit elsewhere but i think you have to apply top to bottom. ultimately i think it comes down to making sure a kid doesnt commit before they are ready to.

Are we even sure that visits to other schools are the reason they told him thanks but no thanks?

Freeman and his staff have done this 3 years in a row now: Sedrick Irvin, Owen Wafle, BDS, and now May. Maybe May hasn’t developed the way they projected he would, and now he’s out.

Certainly possible. Just discussing what's being discussed.

I have no problem with making sure they bring in the best players possible.

I agree that is key. Especially for guys who for one reason or another may be more of a reach.

It’s nice to nail down commits fast and early but getting a rep for processing kids - recruits or existing roster - is bad news, especially for a program like Notre Dame that preaches/promises a long-term relationship more than most. And while we’ll probably never know the real story here, one version of it is that we dumped May for someone we like better.

Was going through the ‘25 edge options and came across this kid from Elkhart who recently has blown up:

Offers from Georgia, OSU, Oregon, A&M, Miami, Michigan, PSU, and others. Even has a Duke offer so not sure if academics are the issue.

Anyone know the story here?

Suggestion by Matt Freeman is that the staff is well aware of him but that there is some kind of hold up in recruiting him. I took it as academic/transcript though we've been much better about that as of late.

Maybe they were already picking up some signs that there could be issues down the road and the visits pushed them into cutting their losses before it had a bigger impact? I don't care if they have one of these every year if they recognize it early enough to move on.

The Omar Hunter Theroem / Robert Beal Postulate / 3.2 Keon Keeley --

The higher ranked X

The further away they live X

The earlier they verbal /

The number of times they visit

= The higher the probability they don't end up in the class
You forgot to add the uncle multiplier...and add a parentheses for Californian with grandma anxiety

Loy teasing 1 or 2 Crystal Balls coming today...

logical guesses would one of Augustine, Blair, or Campbell. There's already CBs in for Golden, Zackery, Shanklin, Meadows, Lange and Strebig.

Assuming you mean Javeon Campbell.

Considering ND offered this kid before in-state Kentucky, they must feel pretty damn strongly about him.

That would be him, first name escaped me. He visited last week. Don't believe 265 is accurate but my guess is ends up inside with Shanklin on the Edge. After ND offered, he started to blow up. Hard to imagine beating in-state Louisville and Kentucky.

Elijah Burress will be committing tomorrow, and it seems like it will be ND with Loy and Dohn putting in CBs tonight

Cool.

But what happens when he starts to pick up offers and wants to take visits. Not saying it’s likely, but it’s entirely possible.

Correct me if Im wrong, but he has only taken one visit - to ND.

Seems like they effectively chose Plax Jr over Bettis Jr. Agree with it on paper, but sucks to pass on the son of a legend, especially after we gave him an offer.
