My hot take is that McCarthy isn't that good and will almost certainly bust in the NFL.... but Rees going for Buchner over McCarthy was/is still insane in retrospect. Like regardless of your opinion of McCarthy, he'd clearly have been a 3 year starter at ND and probably very productive.
Without question. He should go back for another year, even if he hits the portal because of their mass exodus of players.

We wasn't asked to do much this season because of their running game and defense. Seems like forever ago, but the Bowling Green performance was actually quite eye opening. BGSU had a pretty good defense, but they're a MAC team and he was dreadful to the point that Moore just stopped passing the ball and got out of there with a 31-6 win.

I have to strongly disagree. If he had better arm talent than JJ, then he would be starting for Alabama. Because the QB they have is terrible.
Arm talent is probably not the right word (overused at this point), but Buchner's arm is stronger than JJs, and he threw the deep ball with a ton of touch in his HS tape.

Not necessarily, he definitely has the arm talent but it takes alot more to be successful at that level. He needed the reps as you saw in the improvement with Jalen Milroe from beginning to the end of the season.

Unless he knows Harbaugh is leaving this seems dumb
If he's not as great as many of us think he is his stock is probably the highest it will ever be. Whether Harbaugh comes back or not, it is very unlikely his stock will improve with 1 more year.

The Gen Z Tebow’s prepping to get an NFL GM fired.

Seems like many GM’s get hung up on the QB position at the expense of drafting and developing the O Line. I don’t think I’d ever take a QB in the first round. The bust rate seems to be incredibly high.

Yes yes yes, whatever, that’s cool. But he meditates on the field before every game.

I think he’s a solid QB but still raw. Arm strength is there. I see him and Jayden Daniels having similar success in the NFL. Whatever that may be.

Harbaugh chose his RBs over his QB because it was safer ball with the line they had.

NFL people supposedly love him. I don't see it myself, but Brock Purdy got himself into a great situation and he's an MVP candidate.

So much of their team is gone next year. I don't know why he'd stay.

Probably he gets drafted in the fourth round to be a backup, which seems fine. Whatever.
No one’s getting fired over drafting a fourth round pick. It’s that I keep hearing that NFL teams love him that makes me think someone will be dumb enough to take him high.

He’s definitely getting drafted well before the 4th. I could see someone taking him as a raw guy to develop but in many ways he’s reminiscent of those Bama QBs like AJ McCarron. Not a major factor of the offense’s success in college.
