good enough to win a title this year though. He could have been the difference for us.
Trent Dilfer won a superbowl - what is your point here?
My point was - Buchner was a bad eval by Tommy... JJ was also a bad eval...Neither of them were good. Tommy missed on all of the above.

sorry, thought I was clear when I said he was good enough to win a title. That means, he's good enough to win a title. He's not a bad eval.
Also, Trent Dilfer isn't a bad QB. No one is talking about Tom brady here.

Clark, Pyne, Buchner when BK was coach over Tommy
Hartman, Minchey, Carr when Freeman was coach over Tommy.
Makes more sense that BK made the call on the bad evals. He liked low hanging fruit.

You want Iowa to be working offense and top defense?
Umm no... the defense is decent, but it's propped up by playing 5 teams in the bottom 18 in total offense. They played 3 good teams and gave up:

PSU 397 yards 31 points
Mich 213 26
Tenn 383 35

Tenn had a back up true freshman QB and opt outs. Iowa had zero opt outs, but admittedly didn't have Dejong The Michigan stats looks nice unless you watched the game and saw all the short fields Michigan got to work with after a big PR and all the turnovers. Plus Michigan knew they won after the first field goal.

One thing I always tell the Hawkeye faithful who brag about the defensive stats, is that they also got to play their first team defense all game. Us with real good teams had to put up with 2nd/3rd stringers in blow outs. LOL

In regards to the offense, not even Tommy Rees is helping that offense.

So was EJ Manuel. Tons of 1st round QBs bust
He may well be a bust in the NFL but the guy lost one game in college, won a NC, and will probably be picked in the first couple of rounds. To say he was a “missed evaluation” and comparing him to PJ and Buchner is stupid (I know you didn’t say this).

He was also learning on the job. It was a really poor/lazy hire by Brian Kelly.

Freeman is/was learning on the job. Sometimes if you recognize talent you’ve got to shoot your shot.

Tommy still has a bright future. Took that rag tag group with mediocre receivers and a new qb to the playoffs, pretty good all in all.
