I think it's too restrictive to generate a list of comparables by using Sevillano's current listed height as a maximum and his current listed weight as a minimum.

Jalen Carter was 6'3" and 314 lbs. He went 9th overall.
Mazi Smith was 6'3" and 323 lbs. He went 26th overall.
Siaki Ika was 6'3" and 335 lbs. He went 35th overall.

From a height/weight standpoint I don't think those guys are so different from Sevillano.
He just finished his junior year of HS. His weight room numbers, highlights, stats and offers all make me happy that he's verballed to ND. I think he's going to be just fine as a college starter. One bridge at a time to cross.

He doesn’t need to be a flashy player. He just needs to do his job. Even if all he does is eat and blocks well enough and consistently, he will be a great pickup in the end.

Anyone expecting anything more than a handful of career sacks may need to rethink their expectations.

Adetomiwa Adebawore is also not 300+ lbs let alone 315 or 325 like we’ve been told Sevillano is. Totally different conversations.
Nor is Calijah Kancey; those guys were basically super Sheldon Day, extremely light, deadly fast. Though as mentioned before Adebawore is transitioning inside in the NFL after playing EDGE at Northwestern.

My position has nothing to do with sacks nor did I say it did. Jalen Carter was a 3 sack/year guy and he exceeded expectations.

It has to do with being athletic or disruptive, at that size, for long periods of time. If it was easy, more guys would do it. They don't, that's a statement of fact, which is why I said it was very rare. Not impossible.

All good. I wasn’t responding directly to you. Just stating how I feel about the pickup and Sevillanos potential role.

Can’t believe he committed yesterday and no one has posted about it. I usually find out about commitments on IE before seeing it reported.

With Sevillano, it's not so much athleticism or putting on the weight.

Often with guys, it's hard to see them put on the necessary weight and still play with the same quick feet and athleticism after. Sevillano is doing it now. He has the quick feet and the burst off the line playing at 320.

Now, he's raw mechanically. He's going to need time to develop his hands and technique to beat blockers, but there's no mistaking his physical traits are there.

Not everybody can move well at 320, but that doesn't appear to be the case with this guy.

Welcome to ND!

Give it a year or two and Balis' strength and conditioning program is going to pay off for Sean.

3* guy currently, I see a bump up in the ratings for him.

Based on that film breakdown, I can believe that number. He's taking up residence in opposing backfields constantly.

As for Scott, Sevillano impresses me more in terms of consistent motor off the ball, agility and hands. I still don't think the defense they run does him justice, but it's a little better than last year. Scott will have the bigger ceiling, just an all-around bigger framed athlete, but he has a longer way to go in terms of consistency and technique than Sevillano. Scott is going to play for Larry Johnson presumably, so if anybody can tap that potential, it's probably him.

If ND can nab Ogboko to go with Sevillano, then that's a big win for ND. Two absolute units inside is definitely how you improve the defense.

Scott will probably have career like JT Taumalola. Have a few big plays / big games but otherwise absolutely nothing.

Interesting prospect to me. Rankings never matched the offer sheet. Hard to get production playing inside DL but doesn't mean he can't be important

Think he's generally underrated. We battled Auburn and OSU for him and pushed out Wafle because we thought he was a significant upgrade.

And here i thought that wearing shoes in someone's home was a big no no for most Asians.

He'd be told to take em off in the Dudes house.
More concerning is why are Washington's feet the same size as the kids?

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out three to four years down the road. I'm happy the staff added Sevillano, but I think Wafle will be a solid player at the college level. All-American? Likely not, but Wafle is a hard-nosed, powerful dude with some decent athleticism.
