Also besides Shipley on their injury front:

WR Antonio Williams - has only played in 4/8 due to injuries but is the only other WR besides Beaux Collins with multiple TDs on the year

CB Jeadyn Lukus

Safety R.J. Mickens - appendectomy on 10/23 - unlikely back in under 2 weeks.

Side note - found it interesting true freshmen and former ND prospect Khalil Barnes started at safety in place of Mickens

If our defense can play like they have this has a potential blowout written all over it. Clemson is just not good on offense and their defense is bend but don’t breaky .

I know its fun to laugh at Clemson's expense...but this will likely be a 5-7 point spread according to Vegas (in favor of the good guys)
No shipley (likely) is a big advantage for us.
However, Clemson has talent for days, and likely the last chance a lot of their guys have to put good tape out there for the draft.
We're going to get a big effort, and hopefully our boys are ready to go on the road.
10-2 (with hopefully a NY6 Bowl bid) would be a very good season, and next weekend is likely the last big hurdle to make that possible.
Hopefully Dabo has lost the team and they‘ve quit but I doubt that’s the case. They got embarrassed last season at ND & I suspect they’ll be reminded of that on a daily basis. Dabo will recall it in his pressers this week I’m sure. This week is their last gasp. It’s up to ND to avoid the mental mistakes & turnovers that occurred vs Pitt and snap Clemson’s proverbial neck.

I'm not discounting Clemson's offense at all. When they lost to Duke they dominated them on paper and had like 13 more first downs. VS NC State, they had 160 more yards and again 12 more first downs. It's a classic case of talented but never clicking at the same time. At the same time our defense is great, but Clemson is very capable.

Watching this game yesterday, mind you causally, NC State defense was doing well. I’d hope that suggests our defense will be able to show well. I’d put Clemson at 17 points without Shipley.

I just don’t know what to expect from our offense. Hostile, noon environment. Maybe 24-27 points. So 27-17 we don’t put it away until it’s late 4th quarter.

I wouldn't say they dominated them at all on paper. They had more total yards (422-374) but Clemson only averaged 5.1 yards per play. Not to mention, their one touchdown came off a muffed punt that gave them the ball at the Duke 18.

ND's offense, in spite of several issues, poor playcalling and significant injuries, did better against Duke than Clemson did.

We should handle Clemson easily. I’ve watched all their games. They are not the same team as of old. Only thing that bothers me is a noon kickoff and it’s a road game. Thier noon kickoff game day is mild and if we start winning we can take out any advantage from the home field.

Sure --- but shit happens and Clemson might view this as the only BIG deal they have left, so all guns firing.

Their defense is still pretty good right? I would not be surprised if it’s a low-scoring game. And while we *should* win, really anything can happen in that sort of contest.

Their offense is absolutely inefficient. They can and do move the ball but scoring points they rank near the bottom of the NCAA.

They currently rank 121 in Red Zone offense. ND ranks #2 in Red zone defense.

They rank 9 at passing yards allowed our defense ranks 3rd.

Essentially D will be a wash and it will come down to offensive efficiency and I think we win that match hands down. Plus addin their penchant for TOs (96th in TO margin to our 9th) and our special teams performance….. we should fair well.

The only stat they outperform us on is rush defense and it’s not that big of a difference and they haven’t faced a stable like ours either.

By the end of the third qrt I expect to see their defense worn out.

Are they smoking something?

Their website is a little funky rn. You can go here and see their where they get their odds. Right now, it only has DraftKings odds, and that it's at Clem -1.5, so that is what they list as Consensus odds and what you see in the app.

But, the DK site has it ND -3.5.

Watched the condensed game yesterday. They're very good on defense.. Our receivers are going to struggle to get open. I got a feeling this is going to be a first one to 20 wins kinda game.

If Clemson has any pride this should be their Super Bowl. They still have talent, especially on defense. We need to show up and stomp on them from the start and not give them any hope.

Clemson is 7-7 since last year's ND game.

They're just not that good a football team. ND should cover, even if Clemson's home crowd may keep it close in the first half.

This would be a bad time to think it was a game in our pocket. It seems to me that Clemson could pretty easily be a one-loss team right now. Without Shipley? OK. That's different ... but Mafah is real good too.
The problem is that 2 of those 3 they could've beat, they should've beat. Miami and NC State aren't good.

Florida State, I'm very skeptical of, because they've played it close with some bad teams. They should've lost to Duke until Leonard got hurt. They narrowly escaped against a bad Boston College squad.

The ACC is just all-around bad outside of FSU and Louisville (Duke was good too, but without a healthy Leonard, their offense is trash).
