As a bears fan, I would take Harbaugh any day. The fact that him leaving would screw over Michigan is just an absolute bonus.

TV runs college football, not the NCAA.

Does Fox want Michigan banned from the conference championship game? No way.
Does ESPN want Michigan banned from the playoff? No way.

So, post-season bans won't happen.

Recruiting restrictions? NIL makes in person and on campus visits matter way less than in the past.
Scholarship reductions? Just increase the size of NIL deals and you'll still get top players.

Fine Harbaugh and suspend him? That's the most likely outcome, but he'll bounce to the NFL.

They are going to get away with it.

In-person scouting is illegal so even on the surface they broke the rules 20-30 times over the last 2.5 seasons. I would think the more elaborate this is, only makes the punishment more severe.

So this guys was basically like, “I’m not quite badass enough to be on Seal Team 6… so I’ll create a football spec ops position for myself, as the NCAA is a large but incapable enemy.”

Michigan doesn’t get the top players now. They will (certainly should) get hit with scholarship restrictions over this. That has happened to lots of other big-time programs through the years. It’ll have an impact. Harbaugh, I’d agree, won’t be there to see it.

More urgent/relevant is a post-season ban THIS season. That’d be a big step to take, obviously. But this seems to be pretty black-and-white against the rules and if they’re in the CFP this will overshadow the entire event. And if they’re not, some other major program will be (perhaps Ohio State!).
It’s not going to meaningfully hurt ratings.

What if we win out, every game is 56-0 and some shenanigans happen, and NCAA declares them ineligible at the final minute with ND sitting at #5. I'd be ready to die at end of year.

Maybe we should have a separate thread for the signal stealing allegations? Because this is getting a lot weirder

ummmm

Stalions, now 28, revealed that he was part of a small group of people—two of whom he said were at low-level positions on different college football coaching staffs—who were putting their heads together on a long-term plan to run the Michigan football program. Stalions claimed to have a Google document between 550 and 600 pages long that he managed daily, containing a blueprint for the Wolverines’ future. He referred the document as a movement more than a plan, dubbing it “the Michigan Manifesto.”

Jim Stapleton is a minority owner of the Minnesota Vikings, and a major reason that Harbaugh didn't get hired for that position a few seasons ago...so this likely has some legs.
Very interesting.

Here is a free posting that details how Jim Stapleton sabotaged Harbaugh's chances of becoming the Minnesota Vikings head coach.

That's a good point.

I just have so little faith in the NCAA at this point. Much like my attitude towards a lot of things in life, I expect the least and prefer to be pleasantly surprised if people or organizations exceed my expectations.

It won't hurt anyone's ratings, because w/o scUM getting in, it'll just make room for OSU. B1G, Fox, Espn still get a top brand in the title game and CFP

And, every team (plus all the money and power that comes with them) that is vying for that 4th spot will think they should get in over Michigan based on recent findings.

We had no shot of winning, we over achieved to get there. And these very well may not have been the years he said no about ND. It's not like he's asked about ND every pre season, and if so, says "no" everytime.
I saw his shows those years. At the beginning of both seasons, he said we had no shot of making the playoffs.

I can see zero chance they are going to pay him what he wants and or give him front office control. Zero.

Because he's been right every year when asked about ND, saying they're not a title contender? He's been right.
I've said Penn St. and Ol' Miss aren't title contenders for years. What's your point?
