Saw Oppenheimer last night. Very pleased with how Nolan went about it. It seemed a lot more mature than his previous films and the splitting time lines actually worked very well.

I enjoyed it a lot. Even more than I was expecting tbh. There were some moments that were very silly though.

I did think the line the movie ends on was pretty cringy

A lot of the ending where the advisor realizes that *Redacted* is a jerk and starts making smart ass comments was just way too contrived. Felt like a character from Charlie Wilson's War just walked into the movie.

It was nice to see Alden Ehrenreich return though!

Auburn coach Hugh Freeze was Oher's high school coach and is very familiar with the Oher/Tuohy story... he was there. He admits he doesn't know all the details, of course, but indicates he firmly believes the Tuohys genuinely loved Michael and took him in to help, not exploit.

I don’t know how credible he is if he was the goofy coach that couldn’t teach Michael how to block and Leigh Anne had to interrupt his practice to teach him herself.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Oher didn’t manage his finances very well during/after his NFL career and that is the primary incentive for him filing a lawsuit against the Tuohys. He was in charge of hiring his own agent, reps, etc. It also sounds as if the Tuohys made very little off the book and movie deal (as compared to how much the film made) and shared that equally with Oher. I’m sure the publicity helped their restaurant business but to what extent, I have no idea (and it may be impossible to quantify). I also know from personal experience that a conservatorship is often a much easier and simpler route to take as opposed to a legal adoption especially when the child is older (including if adoption is not possible/legal due to their age). I guess we’ll see how it plays out.

I have no idea if the Tuohy family was guilty of what Oher is alleging. The elephant in the room is whether or not he squandered all the millions he earned in the NFL. Maybe he made wise financial decisions and is enjoying the wealth he earned on the gridiron. Too bad it’s come to this. Hope it gets sorted out.

I'm talking a wait and see approach. My first reaction was how disappointing for the Tuoy family to take advantage of him, but then I wonder if maybe he's spent most of what he's earned playing in the NFL? We'll eventually find out. It doesn't bother me if he wasn't portrayed as a very good student. Makes the movie more heartwarming which audiences eat up. Besides, movies take liberties all the time with movies based on real life.

Saw this on espn.com. The article makes a reference that Oher took this to several attorneys who declined to take the case after seeing the evidence.

Really don't understand why it matters if he spent his NFL money. Either he was taken advantage of or he wasn't. His financial situation isn't very probative as to that question.

The book is considerably better than the movie, as is the case more often than not in my opinion. All three Lewis books were made into very good movies but all three books are superior to the films: Blind Side, Moneyball and The Big Short.

Hugh Freeze is going to be a United States Senator one day.

Only from the standpoint that if he's broke (which I have no clue if he is or isn't) he's looking to get financially healthy again. I agree that what he earned in the NFL is a totally separate thing and has no bearing on whether he was taken advantage of or not.

Daniel Day Lewis just fired his agent.

This looks like the elite moviemaking up there with Gangs of New York and Their Will Be Blood.

I believe Daniel Day Lewis announced his retirement from acting not too long ago but this does look like a good one!
