But the movie doesn't mention QAnon crazies, and it's in no way about QAnon, right? I don't know, I haven't seen it yet, I'm just basing that off what Rolling Stone said. Seems like a stretch to try and connect Sound of Freedom to QAnon when the movie has nothing to do with it. On paper it looks like a lot of liberal media sources are using that to try and discredit the film.

The lead actor has spotted QAnon rhetoric in the past, that’s the connection.

Right, so there's no connection in the movie itself.

Not directly. ‘Dont Look Up’ was a mediocre movie from a year or two back which was of. Similar vein but just making fun of republicans for being anti science

Rolling Stone‘s title was misleading too. They said “Anti-trafficking experts are torching…” yet they only quoted one “expert”. The only other expert interviewed didn’t see the movie and pointed out where ”movies such as these” can embellish things. I was expectin multiple experts w/ specific charges and proof of wrongdoing but they only had one and my takeaway was that this movie based on a true story is like most in that creative license is taken due to time constraints &/or making it more palatable to an movie audience.

Plus…it is Rolling Stone we’re talking about…

The lead actor is a Q crazy and the entire plot is based around one of their favorite conspiracies (not that this particular story is a conspiracy). I don't think it's a stretch to think they'd have an interest in wanting the movie to do well.

Like I said before this isn't an uncommon occurrence. Go look at any middle of the road Marvel movie that has a 99% audience score on release because people want to make sure the movie they're rooting for does well.
Can you educate the class on the entire plot of the movie that is a Q conspiracy?

You think child sex trafficing is a myth, or not wide spread? Or that govt officials aren't aware? Or that it isn't a "United States" thing?

Tell me you dont think it started and ended with Epstein...

Having seen it I’m still totally blown away how anyone’s take on it could possibly be, ‘it’s a raght wang conspiracie!! Fuck this film and all who watch it!!’

also, what film these days doesn’t have some fringe political conspiracy or inflammatory bs that’s been parroted by a major cast member??

Pizzagate ring any bells?

Whether everything they claim is real or not isn’t really relevant to my point anyways. If you were in a group who’s chief concern was child sex trafficking (real or imaginary) and a movie came out about child sex trafficking, starring a celebrity that is part of your group, don’t you think you’d be invested in the movies success?

I can see why you'd be blown away because no one on here has said any of that. You're literally spinning a narrative.

Wildman answered my question by saying: (paraphrasing) "Lead actor is connected to QAnon, but if it makes people more aware of child trafficking, its a good thing." Go back and read his message if you don't believe me.

Gattaca has just been pointing out that it's fairly obvious that the public discourse surrounding the movie is poltical in nature and it's almost certainly affecting the Tomatometer score because it's higher than you'd expect from a Kubrick film. He obviously doesn't approve of the lead actors politics but he's said nothing to indicate that the plot is overtly a conspiracy (he was actually pretty careful to specify that he doesn't know whether the story is true) or "fuck anyone who likes it."

Debating doing the Oppenheimer/Barbie double feature

Definitely want to. Only question is which one first? Thinking Barbie second to weed out the younglings and lighten the mood afterward.

Very excited to see Ryan "he's literally me" Gosling in a funny role. The Nice Guys was such a classic and he's killed it on SNL when he's been on.

That wasn’t referring to anyone on the board,… it was a reference to the tone of the articles/ reviews I discussed yesterday. Go ahead and continue to tell me about spinning narratives though,….

Trailers are making Barbie look so tongue in cheek. I hope they pull it off. I'm always down for more movies with actors I like taking the piss.

Every time I see anything about the Oppenheimer movie, all I can think is, "Thomas fookin' Shelby has a nuke!"

I'm going in pretty blind and am genuinely interested to see if/how they handle him being a huge crybaby post-Japan. Truman has some amazing quotes about him being a pussy after meeting him.

Accounts differ as to the exact words spoken, but the October 25, 1945, meeting exemplified the contrasting feelings both men had regarding the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the future of atomic weaponry. Oppenheimer famously claimed to have “blood on his hands,” during his meeting with Truman, a comment that infuriated the president.

“Blood on his hands; damn it, he hasn’t half as much blood on his hands as I have. You just don’t go around bellyaching about it,” Truman said, according to the book Robert Oppenheimer: A Life Inside the Center by Ray Monk. He called Oppenheimer a “cry-baby scientist” and said, “I don’t want to see that son of a b–– in this office ever again.”

Literally came back and edited to clap back after I apologized lol. So petty I almost respect it.
Didnt see your response until I already finished. The last edit was just a grammar fix. Anyway,… Apologies if you found it petty.

Your initial reply sure seemed to have earned a response however.

Your initial reply sure seemed to have earned it and I will say that does seem to be a thing with you. Any time I may, or may not, be into it with someone,… you love coming in trying and pile on. Maybe there is legit pettiness here, you tell me.

I think of you as one my bigger chums on here lol. If you're one of my enemies on here I need to talk way more shit about Irishdrunk and PutUp. Honestly dont know what to say to that. I'll say given the discourse in the thread I don't think it's unreasonable for me to have thought you were talking about the people/discussions that were ongoing. Already apologized so there it is. Let's drop it.

Does anyone here know of any good movies starring vaccine adjacent conspiracy theorist actors that claimed that the covid shot stopped the spread?

I can't seem to find any mainstream media movie reviews that similarly criticize movies for the beliefs of their actors.
