Getting contributions from a freshman WR is pretty much a must for legit depth. Be nice to have a rotation of some order of Smith, Merriweather, Thomas, Styles, Colzie, and Greathouse. Desperately need a year of health at the position.

Stuckey has mentioned the number 8 before in terms of desired contributors. Non-freshman:

1. K Smith
2. Styles
3. Thomas
4. Colzie
5. Merriweather
6. Salerno

The real number will probably end up being 6 or 7 this season but curious to see if Salerno causes any of the freshman issues this year (I bet the number is nonzero). On the other end, if any of them manage to pass Styles this spring that's gotta be a transfer risk. Which then increases our need for freshman contributors.

Salerno is a plus asset as a blocker (probably bone of the three best WRs unless Greathouse or Flores is a complete stud out the gate). Situationally he’ll have spots where he’s useful.

If Tobias only got 1 catch this last season why would anyone be confident Greatnatch will get more than a couple? That’s what I predict -2 catches.
No involvement until about game 8.
Tobias was slated to start getting a lot more play and some of the beat were saying he was going to begin starting in November. Then he went into concussion protocol for several weeks.

Kid was so good, he grabbed everything that came his way and was great at getting open. I really hope this isn't a Spring Game mirage and they get him the ball during the regular season. He could be the most dangerous Slot receiver we've had in awhile.

His hands were pretty amazing, must use Palmolive.

Whatever routes Mayer ran from the slot then just recycle them for Greathouse and see what happens

That’s honesty what it looked like in the spring game. Sit him down against soft man coverage, run an out when you know the defender is in man with inside leverage.

5 yards up, maybe 5 yards out, the occasional deep cross or seam route to mix it up.

I can’t remember which coach, might’ve been Stuckey mentioned how he has an incredible feel for the game, finding soft spots in coverage/zone, etc. Very evident on

Admittedly I am even less of an expert on WR play than on line play, but I like what I see. He seems to be really good at reading the defense ahead of him and knowing the wider context of his route. He seems to run routes like a QB watches them. He quickly took the inside on the in route against man. He kept a linebacker on his inside shoulder so he could turn him around on a comeback against what looked like a matched zone. He presented the outside shoulder against a safety coming down from a quarters position.

It just seems like he has a really high level understanding of the game. Maybe that is the advantage of taking guys out of Texas where they are running really advanced systems in high school.

Over/Under 35 catches for Jaden this year? Hartman is going to absolutely love him as a safety valve.

History tell us to bet the under. At the same time, there are signs that he could be the best freshman receiver since Floyd.

An O/U on Salerno catches would be interesting. I think he’ll have a sneaky good year.

Way under. Until I see evidence that we get our freshmen wrs the ball I'm remaining skeptical at best

Temper expectations because yeah, it was a spring game, but Greathouse looked awesome. He was absolute money, ran great routes and his hands were like glue. He's going to be fun to watch either way.

Wake Forest had 5 guys last year that bested 35 catches. Is Jaden one of the 5 best pass catchers? Or, do we eclipse that mark?

I think he is ultimately one of the best 5 pass catchers but i'll say under as I think they'll spend a good portion of the year trying to get some veteran guys in front of him work.

Jaden probably has a better year this year than next and it won't be because of him not developing.

I'm not a colzie believer so I think Thomas will be outside with Tobias and Jaden/tyree/TE in the slot.

I miss the days of Michael Floyd bullying dudes.
It's been too long since we've had dominant WRs. Floyd, Tate, Samardzija, McKnight, Stovall, it felt like for awhile there our WRs could just get open at will and score in bunches.
