I wasn't sure where else to put this.
Also, the rest of the ACC probably isn't that interested in watching Clemson again. I wonder how much Clemson's hegemony is a drag on fan participation for the rest of the conference. It's probably a microcosm of where CFB's been heading.I think it’s more likely that the PAC12 folds with 4-6 teams headed to the Big 12 than that this “partnership” ever comes to fruition and produces a single meaningful matchup.
I also think that about half the ACC wants out right now but you need two-thirds and they are nowhere close to that because your Wake Forests and NC States of the world are quaking in their boots.
If in the ACC they could demand a larger share. But in the Big 10 or SEC they could not and should not expect more than OSU, Bama etc.For anyone who might know —
Is it a foregone conclusion that ND will take an equal share of revenue from whichever conference they join?
Seems to me that they should be leveraging for a larger piece of the pie no matter the conference. Am I wrong?
The SEC and B1G are going to keep expanding until they get so big they need to split themselves into mini semi conferences and we’ll be right back where we started. The growth of super conferences is awful
In a sense it's terrible and perverting the sport. In another sense, some of these conferences just need to die because of how they're set up. The ACC should've been a Tier 1 conference but had bozos working out the media rights. The PAC12 is the same. The Big 12 has always been 80% fluff. The growth of super conferences is awful
I don’t foresee a future of Independents forming an independent conference. So how long before we join the B16?In a sense it's terrible and perverting the sport. The Big Ten is well constituted as a "northern" conference with some modicum of academic prestige. The SEC is well constituted as a "Stetson Bennett was in school for six years, doesn't have a degree, and no one cares because football > all" conference. They need the prominent east coast schools to pick a side and then the west coast needs to figure its shit out. There should be ~3 16ish team conferences and then no one else should matter.
There is an inevitability here now more than ever. I think Jack navigated the situation incredibly well so that ND can have what it wants, which is ultimately football independence, but it is coming down to a time where that is no longer sustainable with all of the rapid changes that have been occuring. There is money to be made, which is really all that anyone is going to care about, being in a conference and I could see a scenario where Jack irons out whatever the neal deal is with whoever and wherever the conference is then steps down to retire. At that point, there are so many ND alums who are currently acting ADs that they'll have their pick of who they hire for the seat next as surely many of those along with many other non alum ADs will go for the job.I don’t foresee a future of Independents forming an independent conference. So how long before we join the B16?
I think it would be the also-ran elements of the remaining conferences... there is no telling how "big" the B1G really wants to get, and same for the SEC, but let's assume for arguments sake that:If the SEC is "in" the future undeniably, AND the B1G is "in" the future undeniably, who-in-the-hell is the 3rd conference (or fourth)?
There is nothing comparable given the TX-OK and USC-UCLA shifts. WITHOUT Notre Dame, you cannot even conceive of a third rival to the two monsters. WITH ND just barely. ... certainly not two.
I wonder if when the ACC inevitably folds if the B1G would let us get away with a similar deal? Remain independentish.Yeh this still all sounds like SEC, B1G, ND and who cares? Can't see ND ever being SEC, and can't see ND ever allowing itself to be part of who cares, so this still seems like B1G+ND vs SEC and .... THAAAAAT's ALL FOLKS!!!! (Clemson, FSU, Miami swallowed by SEC assumed.)
The other guys still play but maybe not even for the football championship.
B!G vs SEC --- regular season eliminates half the teams down to a 16 team playoff --- B1G representatives = OSU, MI, PSU, USC, ND, plus three others (ex. WI, IA, UCLA) and the SEC reps GA, AL, OK, TX, Clem, TN, LSU, & two others (ex A&M, ARK).
I don't think the SEC ever needs nor wants Miami. I believe He'll would freeze over first. If the SEC already has Florida, and (hypothetically) FSU would they even want Miami?

When I lived in the Florida Panhandle there were some rumors that FSU doesn't have very healthy donor baseI don't even think Florida would allow it. Also, everything I've been reading says that nobody wants FSU. They don't bring anything to a conference.
The Big Ten has been courting UNC for years now. They are going to have to decide whether to join or die on the hill of basketball and their precious basketball rivalries.
