Heard on the radio yesterday that Young is now the betting favorite to go #1 after Stroud had been for a while. Then this morning they're are saying Young, Levis and Richardson will go ahead of Stroud. Hard to believe Levis and Richardson would leap him. Has anyone heard anything about Stroud that would cause this?

Apparently Stroud’s management team is the same as Deshaun Watson’s management team so there is some speculation that the Texans are not particularly interested in working with them again. Not sure if it is true or even the major reason, but some people have pointed this out as a potential factor. No idea on the other teams, but I have seen similar comments about him dropping.

I think I would personally pick Stroud ahead of Young just because of the size factor. There must be something else there though if people are predicting him to drop.

It seems to becoming pretty common over the last few days to see people say that Will Anderson will drop a bit too. Chris Simms got a lot of backlash for saying that he is a mid to late first round talent, so will be interesting to see if the recent comments about him dropping are a smokescreen or true.

This reminds me of the Ryan Leif saga, except Leif had one good year under his belt.

People seem to forget that "biggest upside" also means very raw, which also means there is no guarantee they will turn out.

I don't disagree. I just thought this was a very well written piece.

Ryan Leaf's "saga" didn't really begin until after he was drafted. Coming out of college he was a bonafide NFL prospect and played in 32 games to Richardson's 22.

I wouldn't pick Richardson even if he was available at the end of the 2nd round. If you can't read a defense or accurately place the ball to your receivers, you're not going to succeed in the NFL. I love his athleticism, i wish he was a TE/WR or something else but having a cannon is the least important trait in the NFL but it makes some drool.

Now, i'd love to see just one QB who was a poor passer in college develop into a phenomenal NFL QB to prove me wrong but I don't think he'll be the first.

Richardson is a multi year project who is going to need a lot of time and a lot of practice reps. It's really that simple. He's a bigger version of Mallik Willis from last year.

I don't know if the staff at Florida did him all of the favors they could have in terms of how they were using him.

We've seen this before. It is going to depend on him landing with the right coaching staff and right organizational fit. He gets thrown to the wolves too early, it ain't going to work.

This was one of the more interesting breakdowns on him I've seen from QB School. There is so much to like and not like about him in any given game. This one is a great example:

it’s a crap shoot. Josh Allen being a stud while Mayfield and Darnold can’t get jobs?? Yeah go back and read the stuff leading up to that draft. Go back and read the reactions to the Chiefs taking Mahomes,…. You never really know with QBs

Absolutely. I would be drafting QBs high every year until one hits because its so darn random and the benefit of hitting on one during a rookie contract is so massive. The Commanders are a dumpster fire but who would have seen of their two QBs drafted in 2012 which one hit and has banked a couple hundred millions dollars and which one is cranking out awkward pregame conversation.

What do you think of Jalen Hurts?
I think he's incredible and showed continued development through all of college and his completion percentage was fantastic (he's an exceptional athlete as a gigantic cherry on top).

Now here's Richardson for comparison, which looks like total dogshit:

YEARGAMESCOMPATTCOMP. %PASS YDSPASS TDINTRUSH ATTRUSH YDSRUSH TD

What relevance does this have to Jalen Hurts? They don't strike me as similar-style QBs.

Honestly idk if I would should say that both hit to a certain degree?? I’m not gonna blame RG3 for what happened there and he sure looked good before the injury

Bishop and TTown can better answer this, but apparently Nick Saban didn’t trust Hurts to throw the ball when it mattered. Some of his stats were decent, but it helps when you’re surrounded by incredible talent. It seems it was a situation where stats don’t tell the whole truth, although his completion percentage was only really good at Oklahoma.

Ahhh, so you'd draft Richardson? 53.8% completion percentage and less than a 2:1 TD/INT ratio? I would've been leery of overdrafting Hurts because he was in a system that rewarded the QB but his numbers are great and it's not an air raid offense. I don't think the numbers tell you everything, but it is a huge component.

Richardson is Josh Allen. That’s it.

You’re betting on the guy to not only end up in a good situation with a good coaching staff, but to make a leap with his arm accuracy beyond what is traditional for QB’s that are already far along in their development.

Allen’s transformation into a legit QB was against all odds. Old white dudes in the NFL loved him because measurables, then got lucky when the stars aligned and everything went perfectly right for Allen to become what he is. In college, in a shitty conference, he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. There was zero reason to believe a dude with such a wild arm would pan out.

But he did. So now his current and future physical clones will all get the benefit of the doubt.

He's an OLB and they addressed their LB needs with free agency. They need a DT and an edge rusher. Foskey is a project regardless of where he goes. I'm just wondering how much of a fit he is for the Bears at 53.

My wish for Foskey is he goes to an already established playoff team where he can grow into his role. His going into a rebuild situation like Chicago might end up with his career being a coin flip.

Buffalo.

They do like him. They have invested quite a pit the last few drafts: Epenesa 2nd rd ‘19, Boogie Basham 2nd rd ‘20, Greg Rousseau 1st rd ‘21

Only Rousseau has worked out so far. Epenesa more of a rotational player, and Basham plays more on an inside-out role within their Defense. Von Miller is coming on an ACL and is 34 years old. Foskey would be a great future pick for them. Wouldn’t need him to start hot right away.

I'm really confused. I said I wouldn't draft Richardson and you replied, "what about Hurts?" as if to imply some connection between them. What point were you trying to make by quoting my reply and asking about Hurts? I'm having a difficult time connecting the dots.

You wanted to know if there had been a poor passer in college who had become a good NFL quarterback. I said Hurts. A guy who was even worse was Josh Allen.

I’m not trying to start a fight; I was just answering your question.

Not trying to pile on here but I think the point is Jalen wasn't nearly as bad, if at all, of a passer. His college career comp pct. was 65.1. Even if you back out his time at Oklahoma and just his Bama, it was 62.9. At UF, Richardson 54.7. And, in this last season was 53.8. Those aren't even remotely close.

Jalen Hurts is nothing if not a perfect example of timing and fit play a major role in success. He got drafted into the right situation at the right time. End of story.

Sounds like Stroud might actually drop. That is crazy. He bombed a pre draft test that you can study for, he followed that up by ghosting the guys at Manning Camp.

Keep in mind, though, Hurts' accuracy at Bama was limited, so the O had to be tailored to fit his skill set and limit him to short, easy throws. I love the guy and he's one of the most beloved, popular players in Bama history, but we all knew he couldn't win a game with his arm. He worked hard and improved his passing game at OU and later in the NFL. He could run like an NFL RB and had leadership skills out the wazoo, but he couldn't throw like this 5 years ago.

He's got it better between the ears.

The question with Levis is whether his junior year is a true indicator. Was his senior year a result of him trying to do too much because he didn't have the talent around him his senior year?

I don't particularly care for Levis. He's nearly 24 years old and has a lot of rough edges.
