They still need to get him touches out of the backfield but I think they need to create a role for him like Deathony Thomas at Oregon.

If Parker wants to use motion as much as Tommy did, then Tyree is your full-time motion guy if you don't have a second/third TE on the field. If he's not gassed and you don't need an extra blocker on the field to run the ball in a clock-running situation, he should be the guy motioning into/through/back-out-of the backfield.

love the idea of getting him in motion vs a LB on a go route

HAHAHAHAHAHAH,,, RIGHT?

Reading is hard
I know you didn’t say he was going to be PH,… I’m just laughing at the name drops in general,… it still pretty heavy to use two of the most explosive names in the last 25 years of cfb is all. Lol

"TYPE ROLE" is key to comprehension here. IE: moved around, played slot/RB returned kicks ect ect ect. How this is so far beyond the compression of people blows my mind.

Should I have said "Swiss Army Knife" to be even more cliche ?

With Diggs/ Audric, Price and Love I don't think Tyree will see much action at RB he has always been good catching the ball

Been calling for this for 2 years! He's dangerous in space, quit running him between the tackles.
OTOH: he wasn’t too effective in the open field on kickoff returns last year. Hopefully he gets a bit of the wiggle back, I remember him showing more lateral agility in 2020 than we’ve seen the past two seasons

Yeah I think he lacks vision and instincts…. Putting him in spots to outrun just one player is more ideal for him. On KO you really need instincts and vision.

It’s why he’s has some great plays from screens or quick passes

Parker quickly making his mark.

I agree. I hesitate to open this can of worms (because I feel we genuinely may grow to miss Rees), but there were many (including myself) who were screaming for Rees to use Tyree more in the slot once Estime and Diggs established themselves and it was clear Pyne needed an outlet who could catch the ball reliably. Seems like Parker wanted that move too as we're seeing it on Day 1. With that said, it's Spring Ball, so they could just be testing it out. We'll see where he's playing in the summer/fall. But it's interesting at the least.

I don't know if he's a jet sweep guy, he could certainly house one with great blocking/set-up but I'd like to see more wiggle from our sweep guys.

What will determine if Chris Tyree earns a lot of snaps from the slot will be whether or not he can track the deep and intermediate ball well. If he can, his speed is an incredible asset and he'll be capable of catching fades, seams, wheels and dig routes. Thus far he hasn't exhibited an ability to juke defenders in space but he's got great burst that continues to build so he needs to be running routes that let him use his best asset.

If he can display good hands and and run routes with precision/track the deep(er) ball then he could excel in this new role.

I'm hopeful this experiment will result in some big plays for Chris.
