I can't remember a time when the ND beat was so lacking inside sources like this. I think with Rees leaving, it'll only get even worse.

Might be time to hire someone off the Cincinnati beat in hopes that they might have some connections.

I don’t want this information from beat writers:

“Here’s a list of 12 unrealistic candidates to get your hopes up, but Parker is the name that will be tabbed eventually. You might be mad about this, but his mother called him WAR DADDY. Lulz.”

Inside scoop. Freeman isn't interviewing anyone today unless it's later tonight. He's at the IHSAA wrestling state finals today. His son lost in the quarterfinals and will wrestle for 5/6 place.

But was he sitting with Chris Watt?

Why is everyone upset if it’s Watt? I understand he hasnt been a big time OL coach but wasn’t he working very closely with Harry? OL seems to be a position similar to LBs where coaches make the jump from GA to fill timer all the time.

Because it’s our last chance to hire the Vince Lombardi this cycle

Who are the candidates to replace Hiestand?
Hansen just posted an article a couple of hours ago...

His list is similar to Loy's but he has Joe Rudolph (Va. Tech) listed as the most ideal candidate.

He says this about where MF and Parker are in the OL coach search process:

According to a source, the massive interest in the job has been narrowed to a handful of viable candidates, with in-person interviews possibly starting as soon as this weekend... a source said it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to have Hiestand’s successor identified by midweek.
So it sounds like there are candidates being interviewed now and will continue through the next few days. And with no leaks regarding who might be on campus now or heading to campus, it looks like MF and company might have figured out a way to bypass flight tracker.

Andy Heck has 2 Super Bowl rings as OL coach of the Chiefs, why not come back to ND now? I know it won't happen, but anyway.

How about we go after Chris Kapilovic from MSU.

He was smart enough to recruit both of Heck's kids to UNC where they were each 3 year starters and ALL-ACC.

Why wouldn’t there be? It’s one of the small handful of best OL jobs in college football.
I'm not saying their shouldn't be but there were reasons for the OC job to have massive interest and in the end it was two off the wall names no one thought of and our own internal candidate.

Are you saying Ludwig was an off-the-wall name?

If you are going with a very inexperienced OC you need a home run hire in the protection area. Watt was fired at his only O line coaching job and from different things i have read they got better when he was gone. He isn't Harry and people keep saying he can just call him. If Harry still wanted to do this he wouldn't have retired. The O line is the most important part of the offense you need someone with some big time experience.

The massive interest i don't believe for one second. I am gonna need to see some proof on that one.

Yeah, we'll probably never know for sure but it really doesn't matter as long as we get a top-notch guy. The main parts I took away from the article are that they've narrowed their list down, will likely be interviewing throughout the weekend, and hope to have someone named by midweek.

"Proof" will perhaps reside in who they ultimately hire. But you're walking into a pretty damn good situation - potential first round picks at both tackles and a stable of talent to work with, one of the best RB rooms in the country, and a head coach who very much wants to build his teams around line play. I would think a lot of good coaches would be interested in this job.

I know the point you are trying to prove. But look how the OC just went down. Everything you mentioned applies to the OC position as well. *Not trying to Beat this dead horse again*
