This is absolutely what needs to happen....Brey realizes it's his time....They actually spend some time and money to get a new/upcoming coach, and that new coach brings in transfers to make them competitive....But I just don't see it. Brey's contract goes until 24/25 season. That's when we'll see someone new.

I hope you're wrong and they just buy him out. Swarbrick would look completely negligent to allow Brey to set the program back further than he already has.

The counter point (which I'm not in agreement with) is if you run off Mike Brey, one of college hoops' most popular coaches, you'll loo bad and no one will want the job.
El Kabong of NDN has been pushing this angle. He claims to have a lot of sources within CBB and he thinks ND better be very careful as to how they treat MB's demise. In essence he has to leave on his terms.

Short rotation, team often lives and dies by the 3, not much big presence on the inside.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Brey has made it work some years, but the last few have felt like he’s needed to adapt or be let go, and yet it’s the same story.

Which is a shame - I love the guy, but that doesn’t get you wins in the ACC.

Maybe I’m blinded by my optimism but I think this team would be just fine as is IF Atkinson came back (I realize he couldn’t, thanks Ivy League). That gets Brey off the hook though because he should have had another big ready in the wings, though. Oh well, easy to tune out now.
