I'm actually pretty surprised by the Arkansas number, don't know any detail about the quality of the players but that number seems high, especially considering Pittman seems to be a likeable players-coach and seems to be building towards something down there in Fayetteville.

Yeah that’s it. Shaw was pissed off about it and it may have contributed to his leaving.
Most teams now have 10-20 players in their fifth or sixth year

Hm. That’s silly. But also I seem to remember in their manball glory days under Harbaugh and early Shaw, Stanford had tons of seniors and 5Ys with years of experience and S&C training under their belt, and that’s largely why they were so good.
Did something change in their grad school admissions? Or were those guys also masters-level chemical engineers?

Something definitely changed. Stanford was also oversigning in the Harbaugh years and processing kids but stopped doing that too.

I think it's going to level out with the high school recruiting. But then I think the collectives will shift to spending more on portal free agency. That is basically USC's model right now, take the best high schoolers you can get then fill in the blanks with surefire free agents.

It is going to be interesting how this stuff goes because obviously it's the wild west right now. But something has to give. Tampering will become a real thing if these kids have NIL contracts at schools and other schools try to poach them, even through back channels. Collectives have enough money to say screw it we'll sue you over this and see what comes out in discovery.
