Auburn used a service called Matrix Analytical to identify that WR coach as a potential candidate. That company is 2 guys I follow on twitter who do very, very good analytical work, some of which includes grading coaches. Schools will hire them to find potential candidates. Miami and Nebraska among others have used them for assistant hires in the past. They don't usually come right out and say they did work for school X, but you can tell, based on what they post.

This is what they said about the Marcus Davis hire:

If Auburn came after Stuckey, then hired Davis, that tells me Stuckey might be the best young WR coach in the game, per their data.

Not that it matters, but it's interesting to me.

I don't remember exactly what can share from the article but Stuckey sounds like Freeman 2.0. What a great read. And he needs a raise.
Buddy inherited a WR room situation that was about as bad as you could get from production, depth, development and recruiting. We had guys on the roster learning concepts from watching YouTube instead of their highly paid WR coach.

Similar to Rees with Hartman, time for Stuckey to really turn it up with this group.

If we’re talking about BCR, next season Stuckey will have 3 4 star Junior WR’s, 1 4 star Sophomore WR, and 3 4 star Freshman WR’s. Of those 7, 5 are top 150 prospects. Of the 3 Freshman, all 3 are EE’s. This group should be ascending, I’d say rather significantly, as we move through Spring and into Fall camp. Especially with a QB like Hartman.

Not intended to be a slight but it was purposeful as the list is about “blue chip” recruits that Stuckey will have to work with. But, yes, both Kaleb Smith’s give him even more options. A top of the depth chart of Colzie, Styles, Thomas, Smith (VT Transfer), Merriweather, and likely Greathouse is quite good.

Good signs with how reliable Thomas was in multiple way last year, and with how Colzie came on late once he got healthy. That means Stuckey is getting through to them.

He's really gotta earn his money with getting Styles back on track and looking like the homerun threat we know he can be. I liked what Rees did against BC and USC to get him some high-percentage touches underneath to get him moving, but they need more. It might be as simple as having a quality QB will help his confidence, but Stuckey can help get him over the top with a breakout in year 3.

Any production of note from the freshman would be nice compared to past seasons, as would a legit emergence of Merriweather, though it sounds like that may be as much on Tobias as on the coaching staff.

I recall seeing somewhere that Merriweather was going to get the starting job toward the end of the season but for his concussion. It sounds like he really was earning reps but had bad luck intervene.

I think our WR group really improves in 2023 and if/when Hartman commits that only makes it better for the WR group.

Colzie, Styles, Thomas, and Merriweather showed what they can do on the field this year, it will be their time in 2023.

In his first year Stuckey did a great job at what he had and brought in a nice 2023 class.

The kid from VT will be a nice plus too

Hopefully our big guys start playing up to their size. They need to work on high pointing the ball and attacking passes.
Colzie’s pass last night was a great example. I’m sure Stuckey will coach them up!
