Father Ted is considered a “god” but he’s still the idiot who hired Gerry Faust because he was a “devout Catholic.” Keep the clergy out of Football unless they want to go to the Vatican to get help with NIL.
The University has been and will be bigger than it’s football team. We all want to see a winning team, but the board of Trustees isn’t going to lose sight of the mission of the University, which just so happens to be where the real $$ comes from.

Yall have got to get better at picking memorable usernames.

How am I supposed to remember who's a good poster and who's a dickhead if you all name yourselves some random combination of ND/Domer/Irish/Year?

Exactly why I went ‘Donald with a douchey bankroll’,… if anyone didn’t already learn I was a prick, then y’all gonna learn today.

Some of y’all cats need to learn how to market yourself properly,…

If NIL is such an issue, why do we think we can land a top tier QB transfer.

Does anyone really know here or is it speculation? Seems this Board knows, but has nothing to back it up.

Any clear examples of how much ND was offering versus the school that flipped them? Please let me know, I’m all ears ready to be convinced.

I’m not saying this isn’t true, I just don’t see anything factual to back it up.

Maybe Keeley got the same NILoffer but likes it that he won’t have to go to class at Bama?

I’d be interested in any more insight into comparing ND’s payouts versus other schools.

All good questions. But there's very little real information out there about who's getting NIL money and how much. It's mostly anecdotal reporting from anonymous sources, with a heavy dose of speculation and assumptions baked in. And because these are private transactions between a kid/family and an independent collective, there's never going to be any public reporting (the way public universities have to disclose coaches salaries, for instance). Maybe at some point it'll be like private transactions in some industries where all involved agree that some data should be publicized, to create a fair and level market, but we're not there yet.

So, it's brilliant for people who want to hype NIL as the answer to everything or scapegoat NIL for all the things that go wrong. Which is not to say it isn't a factor in why recruits choose schools. Of course it is. But for most kids it's not the end all and be all either.

Loy stating he’s most likely visiting Oregon this weekend. Deland will be in home on Thursday to try and lock him down, but not sure it’s really going to work.

I was laughed at for saying the staff wasn’t closing out well with this class. Hmmmmm.

At least they kept the RB with the highest floor and highest upside.

I mean they landed Hillman days ago and our long awaited QB many didn’t expect to happen 3 weeks ago. Smith was in there too. Minchey was only 3 weeks ago lol

Starting to think we begin recruiting too early. We're old news by the time signing day comes around.

The lack of contingency offers is baffling to me. Get in the game too late for most of those.

They’re losing what made this class different than BK classes: better skill position talent. Lose Edwards, Limar, and Bowen, all of a sudden this class isn’t looking too much different than what we’ve become accustomed to over the last 10 years. That’s not a bad thing, but we all know they need more than that to win a playoff game.

What BK class had better skill position talent even without those guys?

What class in the last 10 years has the skill at WR? CB? Heck Safety has a couple big names but besides Hamilton they were all flops. They will still come home with the best of the bunch in Love. Minchey is a better actual passing prospect than we’ve had in years.

Limar is a nice player, but he’s not the difference between a BK class and not. He’s honestly what we normally got in a BK class.

Sampson didn’t mention specific names but noted that if ND has a recruit that Oregon is after they should be concerned b/c that school is putting together phenomenal NIL packages that are enticing to both player & family.

Receivers are fantastic in this class. Really glad Notre Dame survived that gray moment with Greathouse. Props to James and Flores for not creating drama. Same thoughts for the corners.

Bowen is pretty much a sure thing at safety. Im a fan of Shuler. I’m not quite sold on Hillman and Minich. Hillman’s high school tape is exciting to watch, but his “see ball, hit ball” mentality probably won’t work in college.

An elite talent like Bowen and the break neck speed for Edwards is exactly what Freeman needs to change the narrative at Notre Dame. They definitely have some nice pieces in this class, but it sucks they weren’t able to max it out.

2013 was pretty solid

I don't agree compared to 2023 from a rankings perspective, but even were that true or they were similar, that class was responsible for the best offense we've seen at ND in the last 15 years as juniors.

I've started to have that feeling about Elijah Rushing in the 2024 class.
