I keep seeing it assumed that Keeley recruitment is primarily motivated by NIL and I don't think its fair to him to make that assumption. He stayed committed to Notre Dame for a long time and you don't think he had offers for tons of money long before he decommited? It might have played some role but I don't think its fair to make any assumptions about it. The kid is looking at Ohio State and Bama! I think the biggest driving forces are contending for a championship and getting drafted high and both OSU and Bama have a much better track record of that then Notre Dame in the past ten years.
That's exactly my point, we don't know. If we start blaming every recruitment we don't win on NIL than we are going to start sounding like the people on the Michigan board. If all he cared about was the bag why isn't he looking at schools like Tennessee, Miami and ATM instead?
I get the championships arguement, at least with Bama. But in terms of putting DEs in the league, ND is better than Bama. Without looking, they are both behind OSU with the Bosa's and Young in the league.
I'm not saying he left solely due to NIL, I'm not sure why it took so long for him to decommit and why it's taking so long for him to commit. However, it seems to be widely known that kids are getting paid to visit, getting paid to not visit, so NIL is the easiest scapegoat. It is very interesting that both Day and Saban went public about how much money they would need for their teams though.
Maybe he is doing what Lyons is doing, he blew up and wants to go through the process. Whatver it is, he probably isn't coming here.
