This kid and his dad LOVE ND. Hearing him talk about the game, the guy has bled blue and gold his whole life.

“I told my dad, I knew we were going to win that game,” Hobbs told Kevin Sinclair after this past Saturday in South Bend. “I just had a really big feeling that after coming off that Syracuse win, I was so confident. I truly feel like if we weren't one dimensional this season, we really could compete for a national championship. I promise you.

“I like the fact that we were running the ball (on Saturday), but we could open up that passing game, you know, get Tobias Merriweather in there. Obviously, Michael Mayer, he's the number one target but just get some other key receivers in there, I really think we could compete for a national championship, or if not, could've made the college football playoffs this year.

“But losing to Marshall and then you lose to Stanford...we shouldn't lose those games. Ohio State is the only game I would say, 'You know what, that's a really good football team. It's okay to lose to them.’ Marshall and Stanford, if we don't lose to them, I bet you we're still (ranked number) six or seven in the country. Maybe higher.”

The best part is, he goes from using the term “we” like all of us do, to now actually becoming a part of “we.” Cool when it pans out that kids who grew up as fans get to join the program. Even cooler when they’re phenomenal recruits.

Welcome aboard Karson!

He's a nice development prospect to add to the CB room. With one spot taken, look for Mickens & Freeman to have a narrow focus on a few of the big names they like. They won't stop pursuing Beasley - as they shouldn't. It will be interesting come spring to see who their top targets will be.

I would like him better at FS than CB. He has the size and frame to easily put on 20 pounds and still hold his speed and agility.

It's subject to change, but it's a good list. Scott is in OSU's backyard, and could be a tough pull. CB has been an exciting position to follow the last two cycles, as ND generally has recruited better each year. Morrison & Mickey in '21 were low four stars, Gray and Bell are mid-high four stars this class - naturally I hope Freeman & Mickens can take another jump or at least match what they've done this year moving forward.
