This pleases me. This kid has all the warning signs of being a program cancer, and on the off chance that he isn't, he just became OSU and Michigan's problem.

I'm so glad we ended up with Carr, even if he doesn't reclassify. I would rather take a 3 star this year or even an under performing transfer over this dude right now. I never really saw him as a fit, and I think the recruiting shenanigans frames that.

Man whats the deal with Oregon and losing coaches?

1) Taggert
2) Cristobal
3) Lanning

Is Eugene just that sucky of a place? Is Nike not willing to pay? Wild.

Edit: And I know this is probably just some tactic to cash in on a successful first season and make tons of money very fast for a first time HC. But in the event that it actually happens, it's just mindboggling.
Oregon simply isn't a destination. But it's the perfect springboard. Go throw around Nike money for a couple years and then get the job you really want.

Is Auburn a destination though? It feels more like a dead end.
At Oregon you can win conference titles and contend for the CFP. At Auburn you're lucky to go 8-4, and even if you manage to beat Bama, you'll never BE Bama.

This guy has a blue check mark, so he could be a crackhead in Portland pretending to be an Oregon radio guy or something. Who knows.

I personally would not understand the logic of this move but that's just me.

It probably will be a destination because they will have to put in a massive buyout to lure a legit coach there.

Brutal schedule, delusional fan and alumni base, and a culture that needs a rehab.

I wonder if there is actual.NIL paperwork signed between the recruit and the school. I can't see kids committing without a written guarantee, but if there is could a flip be viewed as breach of contract?

Isn’t that thinking of recent hires A&M, LSU and Tennessee too? Maybe Auburn has bit more extreme recently but hey It Just Means More

Can’t be written in there, many of them the NIL Collective’s own the players NIL rights though. So if Nico were to decommit from Tennessee he can do so and go wherever he wants, just without any NIL basically

Totally. That's where I got the huge buyout idea from. No one wants to deal with that shitshow and get fired in 2 years, then go be an analyst for Saban, unless they are gonna walk out with like 10 million bucks.

Unless his lawyer was terrible, he should still get the money as long as they still have his rights.

If that is the case with these NIL deals, we should be hoping for something like Dante flipping even with the deal. It could kind of kill the NIL collectives for recruits if everyone realizes they can't actually hold kids to a commitment. It would push NIL to be more about players at the school and actual businesses that want to use players' rights. Given that this is how ND views it, that would help us.

I'm not sure they would have a binding agreement in place right now. Michigan doesn't allow HS athletes to have them (I don't think) and Moore isn't even 18 yet, is he?

Also on the Lanning to Auburn thing - I would be shocked if Hugh Freeze isn't their next coach.

You get to pick two of three from the list:

1. You get it quick
2. You get it at an affordable price
3. You get a quality product

Shoutouts to Little Caesars for knowing exactly where their value is.

Is he gonna promote Tennessee when he’s at another school? I think he has to fulfill certain obligations to receive his funds. So unless he’s tweeting Rocky Top while at another school, that’s how they got him.

That was my understanding, could be incorrect and certainly has more nuance

POTY my friend

Truer words have never been spoken.

For the record, I wasn't criticizing. My props to LC were genuine. There is one on the way home from work.

Auburn seems like a sleeping giant to me, similar to Tennessee. Took Tennessee 15 years or so to finally catch back up to Bama; Auburn has a similar conundrum. The right hire and they'll be back on track.

I would be. He is getting 5 million a year to coach Liberty. He can coach there for life and have none of the baggage that comes with Auburn or any SEC school. Clearly ego plays a role in all of this but I can't see a way that Auburn pays him enough to walk.

He put himself out there for the Auburn job and they didn't reciprocate. They went with Harsin.

He was asked about it after Liberty beat Arkansas on Saturday:

Freeze was asked about any potential connection to Auburn following his upset victory over the SEC opponent.

“I don’t know that Auburn wants me. I have no clue,” Freeze told 247Sports. “I know this: I have won everywhere I’ve been and my staff and kids have turned programs fast. It’s our culture that we instill. I know we do that and the proof is in the pudding.”

Didn’t Miss St go to lengths to try to get Freeze fired from Ole Miss? Would be quite the turnaround for the then AD to now hire Freeze

Anyone else remember when LC gave you two for the price of one? All they did was take the toppings for one and spread it out on two.

MSU but not ND? Did the relationship between Rees and/or Freeman to Moore sour that much?
