Postgame Thoughts:
1) The crowd was in it from the start; I wish this could happen for every game.
2) What a game; atmosphere for the recruits. Everyone feel good about Bowen staying committed?
3) Special teams were special, give Brian Mason a raise.
4) I think the blocked punt set the tone for the whole night. The whole team fed off that play.
5) Even though they didn't record a stat- Colzie and Merriweather played, at the same time.
5a) During the players walk Colzie and Merriweather were on the side I was standing. ND needs to utilize their size.
6) Diggs and Estime had a great game, but the holes that our o-line created have been the best all season long.
7) For anyone who thinks that ND has a QB-WR problem, Clemson could be worse than us.
8) Freeman reminds of Holtz for the love he has for ND.
9) If ND plays the rest of the way like it did last night, we win out.

Go Irish!!

Big middle finger to Clemson.

What's really interesting to me is that these were for defensive calls. The talk before was about offensive signals and Venables being really good at stealing them. But still doing it when he is gone and for the other side of the ball, combined with having someone that worked on the offensive side of the ball for Clemson in Stuckey, leads me to believe it wasn't just Venables and it was occuring on both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see if other teams take care to disguise their defensive signals now too.

It might have been a system installed by Venables but it’s something that would require a group effort to carry out.

Is sign stealing legal in CFB?
It’s legal everywhere, there are just limits on what you use to do it.

I assume that’s why Doeren complained so much when he thought Clemson had a laptop on their sideline five or so years ago.

The Houston Astros got in trouble for installing cameras. The Red Sox (I think it was) were using the stadium replay booth for it a few years before that.

I think sign stealing is perfectly good behavior if you base it on what you are seeing in your game. And it is fair game if an enemy of an enemy (UCLA?) shares their intel.

IMO, it starts turning into BS when you have a team of analytics guys doing it based on old film.

And it should be illegal to have some paid analytics guy using tech to do it at the game, Astros-style. Filming non-open practices is obviously BS as well (Patriots).

So at what point to other programs start using DJ's current form as negative recruiting against Clemson with QBs they're recruiting with Clemson offers?

Seems like there is something way off there from the recent QBs that have come out of that program, and DJ was one of the top guys in his class.

Tony Elliott is gone, maybe the magic is starting to wear off a bit?

Just got home, thoughts...

I was mad with ND put me for this game (lower bowl, behind the flag pole in between Clemson sections), but man was I glad! No blue hairs there. We stood the whole time and got loud. Best atmosphere I've been to at an ND game. Need more like it.

Got to "rush" the field with my 15 year old son. Well, rush is a relative term. Took this old dude forever to hop the wall. But a moment I took to be on the field with my son!

Man, what a game!

I’ve noticed that when I’ve watched him. Minimal lower body when throwing. Was probably able to get away w/ that in HS but may be an issue now.

I have a win-win-win solution:

Brendan Armstrong grad-transfer to ND
DJU transfer to UVA
Cade Klubnik named starting QB at Clemson

That should make everyone happy.

And then Vizzina realizes he’ll be stuck behind Klubnick for years and comes home to ND.

I watched the first 3 quarters on dvr, so I went through it quick. What happened with Brandon Joesph? hurt? Like watts and henderson more currently?

He was hurting before Syracuse and I believe was limited to just punt return duties for that game. Not sure the exact injury but it seemed like one that just needed some time. Possibly the same issue against Clemson.
