Tangentially related, but I recently watched Heavyweights with my kids. Hadn't seen it since it first came out in 1995. Hugely underrated movie.

Tony Perkis was such a good character that Stiller recycled him with very few changes as White Goodman in Dodgeball.

I showed my girlfriend that movie because she had never seen it, meanwhile, it's a core memory of my childhood. She said the same thing (excluding the dodgeball comment).

The other movie that I constantly tell others to watch that was a massive part of my childhood that seems to be underrated is Major Payne.

I think the ending is the same too, isn't it? I haven't seen it either since '95, but I distinctly seem to remember in both films Stiller has gotten all fat before or after the credits
[EDIT] Maybe I'm wrong, I can't find it in Heavyweights. Maybe the characters are so close I've got a Mandela Effect going on here.

I'm pretty sure there's a theory out there that Dwight Goodman is just tony Perkis with new identity.

My headcanon is that it's the same guy... and so is the janitor from Happy Gilmore. He just keeps adopting new asshole personalities in the Stillerverse.

I very rarely listen and only am to have some background noise, but Driskell is throwing out some pretty serious accusations about some assistant coaches crossing the line with some players in practice. Can't stand how nonchalantly he's mentioning this, and also the lack of specific examples. Just "sources", trying to paint a toxic environment.

What do you mean? What are assistant coaches doing?

Which pod is it? The IB page has like multiple podcasts every day on there.

here's the thing...Driskell is all knowing and knows exactly what ND needs to do or not need to do, who to play etc....yeah that's why he is covering the team and not coaching a team
Are you saying that a guy that played at Salisbury and coached at a bunch of D-III schools in Ohio for 5 years is not, in fact, all seeing and all knowing? SI's website even says he brings a level of expertise and analysis that's unmatched!

The insinuation was not Heistand but other assistants. I didn't post because I believe it. He has the platform of a journalist, but he uses that platform as a disgruntled fan and is planting seeds of discord. Whatever, do that if you're just a fan like so many here do, but he's directly interacting with recruits. Painting a picture of a dysfunctional program given how he's positioned Irish Breakdown with players, recruits, and their families is incredibly irresponsible, but I guess that's par for the course for him.

Didn’t he lecture other journalist for leaking stuff on the recruiting trail???

He has a hard on for Tommy right now because of his little spat with Mike Golic Jr and Sr. Not going to lie I am a member there cause their recruiting intel is decent but I’m also a member on 247. Most people on that board take his statements as gospel and it is a little annoying. I enjoy Ryan Robert’s but Vince Dedario is a just a fan with a microphone who preaches like he’s an expert.

I say cut him the hell off but I guess we already have. So does he gets his "information" from disgruntled players or other media guys?

In begrudged fairness to Bryan, I love both Golics, but Junior has a *massive* blind spot when it comes to his buddy and he isn’t afraid to act like a doofus for him when Rees is criticized.

I watched this guy for 10 minutes and couldn’t believe what a dick he was to his cohost. The horror of being coached hard when you’re not performing to standards.

On the last show on his page Driskell outlines that our lack of play diversity is hindering the ground attack, and in the next paragraph he says Tommy's insistence on running a complex system with a thick playbook is problematic. So which one is it, Driskell? Is the playbook too thick or too thin? I know we've got problems, but at least be consistent with your analysis.

O'Malley's "I have 92 things to say is really good IMO". Funny and informative.

I think he's as bothered by this shitshow as we are.

I am not a fan of Driskell at all but I read this as his system is so complex it causes us to be limited in the plays we can run. If it was a simpler system we could expand the playbook. Could be wrong though.

Don't think he or any of the beat writers think this offense is good. And FWIW O'Malley thinks Rees is back next year (though Prister and Sampson think he's gone).
