- Pyne’s ball placement is really promising. Thomas had a chance on the deep ball. Styles in rhythm. Mayer where only he could get it. Really good.

- Diggs is knocking off some rust and running harder.

- The Bye week clicked something with Thomas and Pyne and got Merriweather/Colzie on the field. ✅✅✅

- The RZ stuff on both sides is rather befuddling given the off season talk. It was how Golden is installing RZ the way NFL does and it’s emphasized in practice. The D is awful within our own 40 and O is not much better.

- As a lead member of the Mickey hype train, Mickey can’t be trusted without help yet. He just can’t be. The amount of big plays stop being a coincidence or oh well he’s aggressive! Need Bracy’s diagnosis to be positive.

- NT without Cross and Lacey is a potentially massive problem.

- Jayson A and Joseph stepped up as leaders of the D. Mills didn’t see ending plays but he’s always causing something in there. Outside CBs largely solid.

Hope there were no season ending injuries last night

Passing game looked like a real threat & something that can keep defenses honest when establishing the run.

Tyree really struggles staying on his feet. Kid basically tackles himself when it looks like a big play is occurring.

UNC & BYU were known to be poor rush defenses but ND still struggled in short yardage when they only needed one yard to convert. Is it the playcalling, the lack of execution, both?

Overall a lot of positive takeaways from this win that have been stated in previous posts.
My big hangup is we don't seem to close or play as well in the 2nd half. It seems to have become a trend so far under Freeman i.e. ok state, Ohio state, and tonight.

More posts here about the announcers than anything else.
I don’t pay attention to anything they say. Print a roster and turn on the play by play on a website and you’re good to go, don’t need them

Super excited for Bracy getting that INT. Hopefully he isn't hurt to bad.

Good win.

Mayer awesome first had second half not so much. A dropped pass and at least 2 missed blocks.

This team has a lot of improving to do on the field and coaching.

Estime is going to be very good. I like Tyree but he needs to play on real grass only. He can't keep his footing on turf.

Thomas keep working hard young man and you'll have more games like this.

O line was over all good. A few time Pyne had all day to find a WR. But then in short yard situations they couldn't move the D line at all.

Should have never been this close of a game.

Pyne had some throws that were perfect. Just need him to be more consistent with the throws.

The young corners need help over the top. They didn't have a good day.

Liufau for all the hype is just not that good and is just terrible at blitzing.

Rees was like the weather had some really good plays calls them you were like WTF.

3 wins in a row that's what i like. I liked the uni's and the field.

The crowd seemed very loud for our Irish from what i could tell.

They struggled on the 4th and 1 in the RZ. I hated that Rees ran that play out of the pistol. Other than, I didn’t think they struggled at all. Short yardage or not.

I was holding a party at my house and had a bunch of games on in my backyard. I muted the ND game quickly because the announcers sucked and really enjoyed the game.

Not sure if I’ve seen it mentioned yet, but I thought Bauer really stood out on a few plays. His stat line shows just 1 tackle and a half TFL, but think both were fairly significant plays. Happy for him because of his injury issues

1. Pyne was impressive. His accuracy and poise were awesome.
2. The linebacker play is just brutal at this point. The experience and game IQ of Bertrand doesn’t matter if he is too slow to do anything. Have to play Kollie much more.
3. Loved Teo being on the sideline.
4. Thomas came up big. Hopefully this is what coaches have been seeing in practice and it is finally showing up on Saturday.
5. The running game is getting fun to watch. Hopefully it keeps getting better and ND just runs it down USC’s throat all day.
6. STOP RUNNING FOR SHORT YARDAGE OUT OF THE PISTOL/SHOTGUN

This is a flawed team. Halftime of the Cal game I thought the wheels were potentially gonna fall off, first time head coach, 0-2 start, still a long ways to go but how the team has responded since then gives me a lot of hope that Freeman is gonna be a good coach.

At this point just win games. I don’t care how, just win. They aren’t a playoff team, style points aren’t needed. RTDB and throw to #87.

Good solid win. BYU was going to respond in the second half, but the guys responded. Freeman has found the keys and has this team improving every game.

Pyne getting better every game.

Two obvious notes. Except for one play, the pistol wasn’t effective. Not sure why anyone uses it.

Defense struggled when Bertrand came in.

Team is heading in the right direction.

Wasn’t there another stop on 4th and short? Maybe I was too many beers in.

One thing I am glad about with Golden, he’s not in the college coaches echo chamber. OU and A&M have joined the list of schools flocking to the 3 DL, 6 DB looks. Schools like Iowa State and Ole Miss improved with those looks because the personnel they recruited matched it, somewhat out of necessity. What a waste A&M has all these 5 star DL not using. You got like 6’1 CBs trying to play CB/S hybrids. A mess.

I think Estime and Diggs need even more carries to the detriment of Tyree. I do not dislike Tyree, he has some speed and runs hard, but he does not break tackles and is very lineal, it seems like he has some balance issues and cant change direction. Diggs can make people miss in tight spaces and is a much more creative player with the ball in his hands. Tyree relies on the OL too much.

Jayden Thomas with a great game. He has average speed but can overmuscled smaller DBs. Was nice to see him win contested catches.

I did not see the TE from Georgia but he has to be very good to be better than Mayer. I enjoyed Eifert a lot but Mayer is just so dominant. Rudolph had a very good career in the NFL and Mayer is so much better than him.

Would love to see some changes at the LB position. Not a fan of neither Bertrand nor Liufau. I hope Kollie keeps getting more reps and having an increasing role.

Also would like to see Botelho more. With Foskey and Justin Ademilola leaving this season, i want to see if he can run the pass, or if anybody else on the team can. Foskey was on the bench more than usual, what happened?

Pyne has nice poise in the pocket, his arm is very limited but who knows if he can turn into our Kellen Moore

Jayden Thomas drop on nice Pyne pass on second drive! Unacceptable. He did make up for it though but that was a drive killer as was the lone Mayer drop but I’ll give him a pass too. DJ Brown hit to cause a fumble was great but we should’ve got that one. Dline seemed to get pushed around in the first quarter. Unacceptable. Bo Bauer stop at the goal line was ruined by our DB being MIA on fourth and goal. Mayer first half was incredible.
Bone head pick 6 drop by Clarence Lewis.
Pyne was borderline awesome! Tyree was trash and Diggs must really be healthy cause he looked great!
This D is dominant all but 15 minutes of every game. They don’t know how to play with a nice lead.

He has to make that catch but it was a very late throw from Pyne. He was wide open from the snap pretty much.

Thomas was wide open earlier in the route, but by the time the ball got to him he was in double coverage and a DB just creamed him as the ball arrived. Probably was like the third read. Pyne was under pressure too.

DB was in the vicinity but it was a very good play call on a 4th and 1 when we're selling out up the middle. They ran the WR across the formation, then cut back at the snap. All he needs is a step on the corner and a quick throw. Not sure what our guy was supposed to do. Tip your cap to 'em.

He had a bad game. I think that if we look at his performances against UNC or Cal we would have a different takeaway.

The clarence lewis play was hardly a “drop”. The ball basically went off his fingertips on both hands. It would have been great catch to say the least.

Gotta be real here though.

Peacock, as in the streaming service, was 100% on point. No lag, no disconnects, real time.

So we have that I guess.
It went out for me but it could’ve been connection in my area
