Looking for some info on the experience since I've never been there. I've already got some info but would like some others input on things to do and see.

Also parking and tailgating situation. I'd love to meet some ND folks and get a taste of a big tailgate with some of you. Will be me and my girlfriend coming. She is more attractive than me lol.....but would love some info on places I could park and walk to stadium.. also whwre I can park near the campus on Friday so I can take in the sites.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

As far as the game goes.... I don't look for us to hang with you guys. Our defense is decent and our running game but if you shut that run game down we don't have a good passing game. The QB we have isn't a solid passer. Even at Texas Tech he wasn't much of a passer. And we are without one of the best RBs in college football for the season so doesn't help us. I think you will cover the spread.

I haven't been to a ND game yet, so I can't help you out. Only here to wish you a most excellent trip.

I won't be at this game, so can't help with tailgating. I'll ask around and see if any friends will be in town.

In general -- there are lots of parking options, and what you go for depends on whether you want "easy exit" (i.e. getting back on the highway quickly after the game) or "easy entrance (i.e. being close to the stadium).

I think the Burke course would be a good bet for parking, it's fairly close to the highway and walkable to the stadium. You can buy tickets in advance here. Realistically, you would pay at least $25-30 for parking on someone's lawn, nearer to campus; Burke is $50. Most of the tailgating happens south of the stadium.

The couple of times I've been....I've been fortunate to stay at friends who live walking distance to campus. I can't help with Game Day parking.

For Friday, there is the Eddy Street Parking Garage. It's on N Eddy St and just a couple blocks from campus. Those blocks of Eddy Street have a bunch of good places for food and drink. I'm not sure if Legends (on campus, next to the stadium) has reopened. O'Rourke's Public House is good fun.

If you're on campus Friday about 4 o'clock, the trumpets used to play (pre covid) at the Rotunda. Last year, they played out front standing on the fountains. I'm not sure if they are returning to the Rotunda this year.

All the lots around Pendle are close enough to the white lot that you can just walk there and grab the shuttle to and from campus. Drops you off on the side of Touchdown Jesus.

Welcome to the board, I can say with full confidence that you and your GF are in for a great weekend. ND fans are notoriously kind (with a few bad eggs, of course), and the campus is truly breathtaking. It's quite the gameday experience.

As far as Friday parking goes: I could be wrong, but you should be able to just park right outside of the stadium. They don't normally charge for parking as long as there's not an event going on, so you can just pull right up and park. If you walk around the stadium, you can't miss Touchdown Jesus, and the Golden Dome and Basilica of the Sacred Heart aren't too far of a walk from there. Behind the Basilica, you'll see a staircase that leads you down to the Grotto, which is my absolute favorite spot on Campus. If you have a hard time finding anything, don't hesitate to ask a fan or student, they're almost always willing to help.

If you have some extra time Friday, take a hike around St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Lakes. It is right there by the Grotto, can't miss it.

As far as tailgating goes, I usually park here (screenshot below) and it's only about a 10 minute walk to the stadium and parking is cheap, maybe $20 or $30. If you have any other questions please feel free to shoot me a PM, hope you enjoy your trip to ND!

The last few times I have gone to a game I’ve parked at White Field. They bus you right to the side of the library for drop off and load at the same spot after the game. You can actually buy parking on Stub Hub for about $10 for White right now.

Get there early. Like before 9am. Small campus so really just go see it. I will be promptly leaving at the beginning of the fourth quarter because there’s no way in hell I am waiting in traffic with toddlers. Definitely see the Basilica and the grotto. Underrated is walking around the lakes. If you can afford it, stay the night and park in the stadium lot.

Welcome! I don’t have many recs different than what everyone else posted but assuming the weather is decent, I can guarantee you well be welcomed by ND fans. They’re some of the nicest fans you’ll run across.

One tourist trap you should go by is the Linebacker Lounge. It’s definitely a dive bar & a little too obvious of a haunt but at least make a quick run through to check it out and have a beer.

Yeah, if you don't have a parking pass, this is a good play or go with White Field as others have mentioned. Cheap, there's shuttles to and from the parking lots, and it's easier to get back to the highway I think than if you park elsewhere.

I typically don't go Fridays, I know there's a lot of activities you can do and you can find a list online. One thing I try to do when I can is the Trumpets Under the Dome about an hour before kickoff. It's in the Admin building/Golden Dome. If you decide to do it you'll probably want to get there early for a good seat, it's worth doing at least once imo. If that's too much of a hassle or too close to game time I'd at least check out some videos online. A lot of visiting teams check it out, we had a ton of Georgia people for it in 2017. After the Trumpets Under the Dome you can watch/follow the band as they march to the stadium.

Here's a list of some things to do, but it's not everything by any stretch. I prefer doing the Trumpets on Saturdays just because there's more people I think, more energy, but they do it on Friday too. My old man and I went back in '16 for the first time. Had little idea of what to do/where to go. Was pretty easy relative to most schools. Think we spent about 3-4 hours wandering campus with a 12 pack.

For parking, I prefer parking South of campus. St. Louis, St. Peter, St. Vincent area. It’s about a 10 minute walk to campus from there. On Friday, you can park in the stadium parking lot.

If you’re wanting the full tailgate experience, I would recommend doing to campus tour on Friday. There’s a lot to take in. For a 2:30 game, people usually start tailgating early. I try to get out there around 8:30/9.

I have not been to a game in over a decade so not sure if these things still go on, but........

we would spend all day Friday on campus (touring, bookstore, etc.). We would purchase tickets for the football luncheon held on the Friday. The ND head football coach would speak along with other guests. Then we would cap the Friday experience with the band's concert on the steps which would be help in the early evening until they march to the gym or stadium for the pep rally which is always a blast. They play the set they will be playing at the game including both team's fight songs.

May have the sequence of day's events out of order, but all events are a cool experience.

Also find out where they paint the helmets for the game. Very Rudyesque, but cool experience to see.

I don't want to spend $100 or anything like that but $50 is reasonable to be closer to the stadium and campus and maybe catch a tailgate with someone. Again... Appreciate the info and all is welcome. You will need to purchase a separate parking pass in order to park right outside of the stadium (or just about anywhere in that immediate vicinity), you could get that on stubhub or a similar site, but those will be $100+, easily. If you're okay with $50, you can park a little further south on Twyckenham Dr on my screenshot and you'll be able to see the stadium from there.

FYI, just about anyplace you tailgate, even if it's someone's yard, will let you grill, but typically won't let you use a charcoal grill, so keep that in mind.

I'd echo someone else from above and recommend parking on the golf course for $50-$60, or at Holy Cross for the $30-$40. You can set up your own tailgate if you park on the golf course, or walk over to the course from Holy Cross and cruise the aisles and wait for friendly ND fans to offer you a beer or two for visiting.

Either parking spot is easy access to/from the highway (US-31), and right on the edge of campus, so you can take really any route you'd like through campus to see the sights. I usually skirt the edge along the lakes, visit the Grotto, come up past the main building for some pictures of the Golden Dome, then head east towards Hesburgh Library and Touchdown Jesus. From there, it's a straight shot to the stadium.

We take a direct line straight through campus after the game to get back to the car ASAP. You will still have to wait a bit for the police/stop lights when getting back on US-31 from campus or Holy Cross (directly across the road from the golf course), but there is less traffic to contend with once you're back on the road.

Welcome to IE. Another option for parking is just south and SE of the stadium. Usually around $30 to park and we never have a problem getting out after the game. If you park there, you'll be right in the middle of the tailgating. I would hit the Bookstore Friday night, because on game day before and after the game it is always packed. If you wear Marshall gear, you will probably be invited to join a number of tailgates. ND fans are the best when it comes to getting along with the opposition.

One thing I'd add here; make sure you actually go INSIDE the Basilica, whether or not you're religious, anyone would appreciate the architecture. It's beautiful. The Ushers will make sure you take off your hat at the door but otherwise you're free to walk around and take photos and such.
