Theoretically we could now get two teams playing three times in the same season.Agreed. Not to mention we will get a ton of rematches if they insist on keeping the conference championship games or if there was a regular season matchup (Bama vs LSU, UM vs OSU, etc) that pits 2 contenders head-to-head.
Second round I would imagine.I guess i hadn’t let it sink in that the games will be hosted by the seeds,… wtf happens to the Rose Bowl etc now??? I’m sure I missed something
First round games will be on-campus. I guess logically the second round games would be too, hosted by the four teams that get first round byes. We would've hosted a playoff game three of the last four years.I hadn’t let it sink in the the games will be hosted by the seeds,… wtf happens to the Rose Bowl etc now??? I’m sure I missed something
I can't imagine this scenario being anything but boring.Theoretically we could now get two teams playing three times in the same season.
I would assume that the quarters and semis would all be in NY6 bowls.First round games will be on-campus. I guess logically the second round games would be too, hosted by the four teams that get first round byes. We would've hosted a playoff game three of the last four years.
I'm not sure it has been officially worked out but I'd bet semifinals and the title game will be at big bowl sites. Though yeah there are more of those than there are games to go around every year. They should probably pick two permanent semifinals (Rose and Sugar?) and let whoever wants to bid to host the title game, Super Bowl style.
That would mean the top four seeds don’t get an on-campus game. Which, maybe is a fair trade for a bye week, but maybe isn’t. Maybe also the Peach Bowl and the Cotton Bowl don’t really need to be a thing anymore.I would assume that the quarters and semis would all be in NY6 bowls.
What if I told you it was ND beating Michigan 3 times?I can't imagine this scenario being anything but boring.

I used to feel this way. I've come around to it now because although the regular season will be diluted, the bowl season will actually be fun again.Inevitable but I'm not a fan at all. This is a money grab, nothing more, trying to mimic the NFL, dilutes the regular season, and lets average teams into a playoff. This also increases risk of kids getting injured with more games.
I think once you go playoff route then you need to have the best system possible. 4 teams just aren’t enough, IMO.Inevitable but I'm not a fan at all. Could earn Notre Dame a Lambeau Lite reputation.Give me home playoff games in December!!
I love it! I always like any format that ensures the best teams have a chance to win it all in the end. I think it will be super fun and allow bigger non conference matchups for teams.

The top four teams get a first round bye. Teams ranked 5-8 host the first round on campus. What is the schedule like for this format? Do the top 6 seeds get home field advantage for round 1? If so, in any given year you'd potentially get what, two or three? Michigan, OSU, and ND??...Are these the only playoff caliber programs from the north capable of being ranked that highly come year's end in any given season?
