Look man… I have a high tolerance for being tone deaf or pretentious. I coach and played a “country club” sport. I have 17 year olds showing up to practice in Range Rovers and some high schools we play have tuitions higher than Notre Dame’s.

Pretending a million dollars ain’t shit is an all time bad take. At 18 if you invest that and don’t touch it until retirement that would be an incredible nest egg. Even in my 30s doing just fine financially being offered a million dollars could get me to modify behavior in many instances, especially incremental choices.

Let’s not be obtuse that compensation matters.
Apparently CJ Carr disagrees with you. Glad you aren’t advising him.

I'm glad you could look away $1M in the blink of an eye and I get what you're saying, but those may not be advantages to the recruit and their family.
In the face of substantial compensation from ND, most of our current recruits could. Allegedly Mayer was offered $1 million to go to Bama this year. I’m glad the clowns here in the IE board werent advising him 😂

Perhaps y’all should Tweet your financial advice to the Carr’s 😂😂

Tune in to CJ Carr's commitment tonight at 7PM. You'll get to meet a sophomore in high school with more financial brains than you.

I have a non-related question: how does a post (#453) get quoted in an EARLIER post (#452) which is listed as occurring a few minutes earlier?

Koon would be saying that a kid who turns down a cool mil to attend ND is an idiot. This is much more in line with Loomis.
I had the same thought. Koon is the guy who takes the bag; who f*cks the office coed while his pregnant wife sits at home; who asks for advice on whether to buy a timeshare, disregards it, and does the stupid thing he wanted to do all along, etc. Whatever Irish'15's vices are, they aren't Koons.

I saw that to. The post initially predated the response, but then it got edited and showed up after the post it was responding to. I think he must have deleted the original and reposted, or the posting order glitched due to some oddly timed edits.

Yes. Money is not the only thing in life. But a guaranteed $1M at 18 is absolutely game changing for most folks.

Nobody is arguing that it's not. My original point was that it's not a lot for Keeley, a kid that will make more in then next 10 years of football than I will in 40 years in my career. That's the issue. We are arguing whether $1 mill and no ND degree is better than A LOT of $$ + a ND degree. I seem to think you take the smaller bag and the ND degree. The majority of others seem to think you take the bag. I'm actually astounded by the number of people in favor of this. I was certain a ND board would see the value of ROI, etc. Based on the name calling, I fired back pretty hard. I got a gang beating. I like CJ's choice. I'm sure he and his parents and the Carr's are smarter than most here. I'll leave it at that.

In case anyone wonders, I will take a million dollars right now if you want to give it to me.

It would keep my wife off my back for a few days for retiring young.
Maybe not.
But I will still take it.

Sounds like you come from a very new liberal "woke" perspective. Don't like free speech. Don't like disagreement. Perhaps a fan of safe spaces, IDK. Hell, who would've thought a guy that agrees with the decision of every single one of our current and future '23 and '24 commits would get so much grief on a Notre Dame board. I might be better off staying with rivals. At least they are somewhat optimistic fans.

We actually have a whole sub-forum dedicated to Politics. This sort of post would fit right in with most of those threads. But we try to keep the football threads less combative and more substantial.

Gotta pay your dues around here before you start swinging at other posters like this.

That's the first time I've ever heard someone use "neoliberal" and "woke" back to back. Would unironically love to hear more about Irish15's politics.
