Honest to God question (to the board gang members). Explain to me how every single '23 commit + CJ Carr is making a bad financial decision by coming to ND. I really want some substance. All I hear is how dumb my opinion is that I wouldn't take the big bag vs the small bag. Please enlighten me and the staff and the recruits.

What I picture while reading your posts:

Funny, I was imagining you and your homies in a similar light, just a lot fatter and all in the same room.

Sounds like you come from a very new liberal "woke" perspective. Don't like free speech. Don't like disagreement. Perhaps a fan of safe spaces, IDK. Hell, who would've thought a guy that agrees with the decision of every single one of our current and future '23 and '24 commits would get so much grief on a Notre Dame board. I might be better off staying with rivals. At least they are somewhat optimistic fans.
You should look into our awesome forum titled “Politics”. It’s a wonderful circle jerk of confirmation bias that I think you would find extremely satisfying.

This has been addressed. Please stop bringing politics into this.

I made the mistake of reading all this crap. In my opinion, worthless as it might be, this COULD have been a reasonable discussion. But one person decided to get extremely non-collegial and name-called everyone else on the thread. Why? I've seen this here with drunks, but this guy doesn't SEEM drunk, so why the lack of any community decency or feeling of brotherhood? He HAS really made a mess of the thread. Bothers me a little to think that recruits and recruits' families could be reading it. We know the board is loaded with too much testosterone, but it isn't usually vented in recruit threads, especially for guys we like.

It does depend on the $ difference between the two bags and the difference in academic reputation between ND and the other institution.

Yes, you mean the first guy that called me a name?? Then I pushed back. I sincerely hope they aren't as well, considering 90% of you are devaluing a ND education and essentially saying you'd take the bag. What a joke. Not a single person arguing with me ever attended ND. And I really hope high school kids aren't reading this considering the losers posting sexual content on here. Sickening.

Gentlemen/Mods --- we really DO need to clean this up. This whole thing is WAY out of line, especially in a thread about our top-rated recruit who isn't even the focus of the "debate."

Substance: a degree from Florida State + $1M up front is likely to net you more lifetime earnings than a degree from ND and $300k up front. There's a trivial difference in earning potential between any selective college and any other four-year college (as I mentioned earlier)

Now no one is saying that choosing ND is dumb, because ND is awesome! It's an incredible university that offers a great education and truly improves every aspect of your life. That's why I chose it. But to act like an ND degree is worth $700k net present value is just incorrect.

This is correct. Recruits and their parents read message boards. A long time ago Mike Frank made that point on his message board but posters ignored him and continued on with what they viewed as harmless discussion. Rivals programs (OSU) literally clipped fan quotes from his site and sent them to players & parents. It ended up costing ND several recruits.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that you need to express it for all the world to read. Especially when you have no idea who is reading your quotes and taking them in ways that you may not have intended.

The best policy is 'do no harm' & let the coaches handle things.

Its a simple concept but one seemingly lost on some.

Yes it does. I agree. This isn't being argued though. Would I take $9 million over a ND degree. Duh. Nobody is arguing that. It's $1 million for Keeley vs whatever ND is giving him (which is likely a lot or he wouldn't still be committed), + ND degree. There is a huge ROI from ND. Again, evidenced by the highly rated recruits we have now and will get in the future, including today.

It's not $300 vs $1 million. It's whatever ND is paying them vs whatever they'd make elsewhere. CLEARLY, unless every single kid committed is a complete moron (which they are not), they are getting paid well here or not getting those kids of offers. The fact is, the size of the bag at ND must be fairly decent. Can A&M pay more? IDK because they aren't' poaching our kids, yet!!

A good place to start is cleaning up the sexual content from your favorite posters.

The way I know I'm the worst mod is that I have no idea how to undelete all of the stuff that Cack deleted. My existence is entirely irrelevant, I do zero actual moderating.

Only 1 SEC school is in the top 8 classes for 2023, and it’s Arkansas. 3 are in the top 15.

Man, it must be hard to dominate recruiting when everyone else is allowed to buy recruits too.
