I was referencing whether Carr reclassifies or not. Not generalizing.
Loy has also commented on this by saying, we'll see. I'm not expecting it but I believe he could be on track to do it, if he wanted too. So, again, there is more than "nobody knows nothing" on the topic.

Agreed. I'm having a hard time imaging a scenario where we'd rather a commit play out his senior season rather than get on campus ASAP. There are so many variables outside of ND's control before they get on campus, including the athlete's coaching, academics, nutrition, S&C, opportunities to get in trouble, etc. Get them in the bubble and start training them up.

IMHO, QBs need as many live game reps as possible. I would 100% have rather had Tyler Buchner play a senior year of high school than come to campus early.

At Helix, sure, wish he could have played.
His old school? He really didn't have much more he could have done.

Yeah, I am definitely NOT saying that a kid can't outgrow an under-competitive program. If you are a D1 prospect, transfer to a competitive league for sure.

I'm more espousing the fact that some things have to be learned gradually. Basically, its why they have minor league baseball and one of the reasons the NFL doesn't want 18 year olds.

I don't know if all this stuff made it to this thread but some fun stuff to read/watch if you want to get caught up on CJ being a total stud.

Some good stuff by Shaun Davis on the Lucky Lefty podcast right now. Shaun talked to Drayk Bowen and was told that Drayk and CJ have talked. Mentioned that there was some friendly competition of who could be the better recruiter for their respective class. Mentioned that CJ, Cam Williams, and Jack Larsen are a trio in the '24 class.
yeah Driskell said yesterday that basically CJ and Larsen were hanging out together all day at irish invasion while he was in the stands watching the event

Anyone that didn’t think an elite ‘24 quarterback is more important than Dante Moore is outside their mind. I was high in Sayin, but I’m great with Carr. Buchner is going to be legit (better than Dante as a college QB imo). NFL, who knows. But TB is good. We need a 5 star replacement. Moore wasn’t going to sit for 3 years while battling CJ/Sayin unless TB is gone in two. Either way, ‘24 is the bigger year. I would love a Moore/Carr combo, but I’d be equally thrilled with a Carr/Sayin combo. And if it’s Johnson/Carr/Angeli/Buchner/Pyne, that’s an elite room. Even without a ‘23 we have a dark horse in Angeli. Even at worst, Carr vs Angeli is going to produce something legit.

All I want is to know is what my Michigan friends will say when 5 star coveted Michigan QB legacy CJ “Carr” commits to Notre Dame on Thursday and then again what they’ll say when CJ “Carr” is the first QB in 30 years to win a title for Notre Dame.

What’s the background on this??? I’m totally out of the loop
Just going by memory, ChadTough is a UofM foundation for Chad Carr, Lloyd’s grandson (I have no idea if it’s CJ’s brother). Chad had a brain tumor and it was the football team’s motivation for an entire season.

Lots of money donated to the cause from alumni and fans alike.

Edit: Quick Google search comes up that Chad and CJ were brothers.

Ah, classic scUM fan. The school with a $17Bn endowment set up a foundation and donated money for brain cancer only with the caveat that his brother has to come play football for you.

Sound Mind, Sound Body director on CJ:

“ I didn't know he was such a competitor. He has a chip on his shoulder. He's feisty. He's way more of a competitor than I expected. He stopped playing basketball this year to focus more on football... CJ is doing an excellent job of doing what it takes to be a leader. He's immersed with all the kids from the city and is understanding how to lead all those guys. That's what it takes to go into a college locker room and command guys. I respect him for that. A lot of kids are afraid of the challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing him finish the year strong. He's a great athlete and comes from a great football pedigree. He's going to be a great quarterback when it's all said and done.”
