I’ve been looking to get Buffalo Trace for my dad for about a year and haven’t been able to find it yet

I found a 1.75L BT at Kroger. Last one on the shelf. $47.

Over the last month, I've really been on bourbon kick and the barrel proofs are growing on me. Outside of my go-to Islay scotches, I pretty much prefer bourbon now.

Trying to decide on E.H. Taylor Single Barrel or Four Roses Single Barrel OESV. I keep finding Tiers 5 and 6 online in the whiskey club I'm in, but they get claimed so quickly. And they're pricey at around $250-$300. The EH Taylor is around $200. Small Batch is around $100, I believe. Just can't find these bottles anywhere. Third party prices are crazy.

If you haven't seen it, Netflix has a series called Heist. The second episode is about guys that worked at Buffalo Trace and were stealing Pappy Van Winkle 20 year and other high end whiskey. Then selling it for thousands per bottle.

You ever hangout in the Fountain Square area? We went to a place called Brew Dog on Saturday and they sell an amazing IPA called Elvis Juice. Highly recommend. It has a hint of grapefruit in it that’s really refreshing. Had to get me a sixer to go…

Elijah Craig barrell proof or Russell Reserve single barrell are just as good if not better and easier to find. The 4 roses barrell proof is very good but secondary prices are not worth it.

I'll have to watch it.

Both of those are my short list as well. Thanks for the advice.

I’ve been by there but never stopped. Ended up at the restaurant right by the fountain. I’m not a fan of the fruity beers. I lean towards the dark beers.

The 4R BS at msrp is absolutely worth it but they are so difficult to find. For me, 250-300 bucks can get a Bookers, EC BP, and RR Single with some money left over. But drink what you like, it's only money.

I forget when this happened last year, but apparently Total Wine & More on Indy's northside got their allocation. I need to pay attention to their emails better, because I probably just skipped right over it. Anyways, they had (IIRC) Tier 3 4R BS OESV by the case full for $86.99 give or take. NO LIMIT! Sold out within an hour and now that bottle is twice that price or higher on third party market.

Got my hands on a bottle of Blanton's for shelf minimum.. $60. Normally can't find it for less than $100 since it's so hard to find around here.

Cheers gents. Happy Friday

Jelly bro. Thats my favorite. Cant fid it anywhere.
I've had some overpriced pours at bars but this is my first time finding a bottle. I have a hook up who works at a local liquor store who was finally able to get a bottle in for me.

Any idea if it's easier to get at the BT Distillery? I will be down in L'ville in August, might need to take a little detour on my way home and pay them a visit.

Cant say honestly. Its literally impossible to find where Im at, and any bottle that comes in goes straight to our restaurants and hotels. Ive got tons of friends in distributing and in F&B and none of them can help get a bottle.

Had a glass of Balvenie last night,… good but a bit more bite than I prefer. I will say however that I can assume confidently without prior experience that it’s much better than old sweating ball, homeless man, piss,… maybe some here can speak to that with more expertise,….

I helped a friend out this morning and he paid me back with a bottle of Rabbit Hole Dareringer. Excited to try it. Anyone had this?

That's insane man. It is very smooth.

If they do sell it at the distillery, I'll be sure to let you know.

So I finally got full into Whiskey after years of just drinking beer. After a year plus of trying various stuff I realized there’s a few fairly cheap Scottish whiskeys I really enjoy:

Cheap: Spreyburn 10
Chreap: Tomatin Dualchas
About 20 bucks more: Aberfeldy

I think Aberfeldy is my fav regardless of price point. Some of the 100 plus bottles are too fire for my tastes. Belvenie cones to mind.

My BiL put some Angels Envy in a flask 12 years ago when my niece was murdered ( we do odd things in grief) and put it away. He finally cracked it back open this weekend. Damn it was good. I’ll have to get a bottle of Angels Envy

Being 39, so after 23 years of drinking, deep craft beer phase for 10 + years, bourbon phase, etc. I’ve settled in on Tito’s and lemonade. Got to be fresh squeeze type. Simple, refreshing, and gets the job done quick. When I run out of Tito’s, usually bourbon does the same thing with lemonade. Can’t go wrong.

For you fellow bourbon snobs: just got back from Louisville last weekend for a bachelor party; my second time on the Bourbon Trail. If you're ever in that area, I highly recommend the Stitzel-Weller Distillery tour. It was very impressive, and their Blade & Bow Bourbon is delicious.

It was right up there with Woodford as far as the tours are concerned. Still haven't gotten to Buffalo Trace but I will one day.

Total Wine Run:

-Elysian Pumpkin mixed pack
-Six pack of Shipyard Pumpkin Head
-Aberfeldy 16 year
-Buffalo Trace,… see what all the hype is about,… it was really cheap at 21 bucks,… almost got some Angels Envy bc I know I love that but the difference in 21 bucks vs 105 bucks made me try Trace
-Couple bottles of Witching Hour Red for the wife
