But but they are in the SEC. Come on, finishing 9-3 in the SEC is like finishing 17-0 anywhere else right?

Just ask that dorky geek with glasses that does the lame SEC show Finewhatever.
You can lose to those teams at LSU but you have to beat them, too. Can't always lose to them.
Lol was just gonna say at 9-3 the boosters will be losing their shit. Meanwhile, the CFP committee will have them at #10 because of their 3 quality losses that only an SEC West team could benefit from...

Sampson said the players were actually more pissed off after BK’s 3 minute meeting than before. Sounds like his goal was to at least show up, meet them face-to-face and say goodbye vs what he did in 2009 to his Cincy team. I think he’s that out of touch with how to treat folks that are “beneath him” in his eyes, that he just doesn’t get it.

I believe more will come out that the staff & the parents & the players are relieved he’s gone and now (hopefully) they’ll have a HC they can relate to w/o going through the Captains of the team first.

There's just not a great way to break up and immediately shack up with another person (team). This is how this plays out almost every time. That's the deal. We rebounded quick and upgraded.

Yo, to walk into a room like this and say relationships are “built on trust” after what he did just 48 hours ago shows a a serious level of arrogance. Funny how now all of a sudden LSU has the “best” of everything.

BK may be filthy rich but dude is bankrupt.

Broke: Notre Dame lost its head coach.

Woke: Notre Dame lost its worst staff recruiter AND NOTHING ELSE.

Saw this over on SEC Rant:

While Kelly’s contract will pay him $95 million total in base salary, a longevity bonus will push his total compensation to at least $100 million over the life of the 10-year contract, which made him the first coach at a public school with a nine-figure deal.

Kelly’s salary will start at $9 million per year his first season. It then rises in increments through 2031.
quote:
LSU added incentives that will easily raise Kelly’s total compensation. The longevity bonus will pay him $500,000 every year as long as he remains LSU's coach on July 1. He also receives $500,000 if LSU makes a bowl game
quote:
The contract has other bonuses based on Kelly’s performance. After LSU's first SEC championship, his annual compensation will increase by $250,000 for the remainder of the contract. And if LSU wins a national title, his base salary will increase by an additional $500,000 for the rest of the deal.
quote:
LSU also agreed to give Kelly two courtesy vehicles or two car allowances worth $1,000 a month, an interest-free loan up to $1.2 million in order to buy a house, 50 hours of travel per year on private planes, relocation funds and the cost of Kelly's buyout at Notre Dame, which is not specified because it’s a private school.
quote:
If LSU fires Kelly without cause, the school will owe him 90% of his remaining salary. However, it will owe him his entire remaining salary and the prorated longevity bonus if LSU fires him without cause after Kelly has won a national championship. LSU won't have to pay Kelly if it fires him for cause.

Kelly and athletic director Scott Woodward's contracts are also now tied together.

If Kelly leaves LSU while Woodward is still the athletic director, he would owe $4 million in 2022, $3 million in 2023 and $2 million any other year left in the contract. Kelly would not have to pay a buyout if Woodward is no longer athletic director when he leaves LSU.

So, if he ends up tanking in a few years they have to pay him 90% of his remaining salary still, or nothing if he's fired with cause. What are the chances the LSU admins send a couple slutty coeds over to BK's office after a 6-6 season?

I just spent an hour on TigerDroppings for shits and giggles. I'm certainly dumberer as a result.
Big takeaways:
Lots of fans are excited to have a coherent coach after about 15 years of nonsense.
Some thought they were getting most of Kelly's offensive staff, Elston, Balis, and a few thought maybe even Freeman if they offered him enough and "HC in waiting" title.
Since Freeman is locked up they want to try and poach Elko lol.
They have two threads dedicated to BK's daughter Grace, I'm not sure I even knew or remembered he had a daughter before today.
They're mesmerized by Kelly's speeches, which contain the same coach speak he's always used at wherever his current stop is.
They expect Saban is out soon, so Kelly will then dominate the SEC with 5-10 titles before he retires too.
A few are hoping Kelly can talk some OL guys to come with him
The best thread was one where an ND fan came in and filled them in on all things BK, to which many commented how articulate the poster was over the 9 pages and what a breath of fresh air it was to have someone intelligent on the site.

With nearly all the ND coaches staying put.....where does Kelly go for a staff? I suspect he thought he would bring a good few with him.

I imagine there's a ton of former pop warner or pee wee coaches of players on LSU that are ready to take the next step as well.

Sampson and Fortuna put out another Shamrock episode last night saying someone who was present in the meeting with Kelly said they got some information wrong. Instead of him turning and walking out the door to his right, he actually walked up the stairs past the entire team in dead silence with no eye contact. They said it was a very awkward/tense 15-20 seconds. It's telling they reached out to those guys to get that part of the record correct.

Every coach on staff saying no to BK is a big freakin deal, for both ND and LSU. Very telling that BK couldn't get anyone to join him in cajun country.

VanGorder as DC and Charley Molnar as OC?

Not sure if it was a serious list or not but they were both on the coaching list. BVG as LB coach.

Wha? Kelly signs a 10 year deal and LSU fans think Freeman is going to wait a decade to become the next HC? A DECADE? Rasputin has no English words to describe this level of dumb#&^%#@ery.

Miami has a few titles in the last 30 years. Nebraska has titles in the last 30 years. Washington has a title since ND last won.

This is a lateral move. Notre Dame is a destination job. There is 10-15 of those in the country.

I think what North Dakota is saying that, based on the "LSU has 3 national championships in the last 30 years and him leaving was an upgrade" means they are a superior program to ND. However, this would also mean Miami, Nebraska, and Washington are also superior programs since they have more titles than ND in the last 30 years.
