Michigan State & Washington off the top of my head.
USF too.
That's just a quick think tho, I am sure there are more.
Certainly not at the same time.
Congratulations and I wish Coach Freeman well. Fans are amazing. I can remember back two months ago when 80% of this board wanted him fired as the DC. ND is a tough place to learn on the job. I know the players love him, but will that translate to wins. Let's hope so.
Man the potential is huge but this is a huge roll of the dice,… buckle up, butter cup
I'm with you on this. I'm all for it and looking for Freeman to be the next big thing, but it reminds me of the Office when Andy and Will Ferrell do the sales pitch and Will Ferrell totally torpedo's it:
"I would like to start by just saying that I have not worked with Mr. Marcus Freeman here for very long. But I can say, that he's no Brian Kelly.
I can't sit here and tell you he's gonna be a success. I can't sit here and tell you that he's even the best man for the job.
But I can say this: He's got potential.
Sure. You know, I always say: go big, or go home. You go with this guy, you could be making the biggest mistake of your life OR the biggest, good decision of your life. It's either gonna be the BEST thing you ever did, or the WORST thing you ever did.
If you want some boring, white bread clock-watcher who's gonna get you your Camping World Bowl game when you ordered it, for the agreed upon 9 wins, Freeman's not your guy.
You ever play Russian Roulette? Time to spin the chamber, Swarbrick... By signing up for 5 years."
Again I'm all for this move, but the next few years are gonna be wild. Either Boom or Bust, no in between lol.
Stoops is the only coach who comes to mind to get his first HC job at a major program and be successful.

Dabo, Riley, Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher, Phil Fulmer, Larry Coker...
We'll see, though. It's a risk, but low-risk. Recruiting should be solid and if things don't work out, it will not be expensive/difficult to make a change.

How do you define successful and major program?I think that Dabo Swinney would like to have a word with you.
