To get back on track, the 247 A&M mods are saying that he might not even be a take for them right now.

Feeding the junkies on their site what they want to hear. Getting them prepped in the event he chooses ND. The only thing I'm confused about is why ND would accept his verbal knowing he plans to use his OV.

Me as well. Two different thoughts. They don't think he ultimately follows through on those visits. Or they are comfortable taking the commitment and still recruiting Jamire Calvin, and trying to get him to OV. Not sure I like either strategy but I'll trust them.

Good lord guys. I'll say this and then I'll leave it alone since this is morphing into something completely different.

I'm not saying that ND's offense is doomed or that guys like ESB, Hunter, or Sanders can not be productive in a spread offense. I'm not saying that one of those guys can't individually step up and have a great year.

All that I'm saying is that an ALL-AMERICAN WR like Fuller is hard to replace. To expect that to be done by a guy like ESB who has......less than 5 career catches (?), seems unlikely. Will Fuller brought a different dimension to this offense. You can say he was a "one trick pony" all you'd like but in my opinion, that's what made his production all the more impressive. Teams knew what he was going to do and he did it anyway. He was dominant at the position and that won't be replaced this year by anyone.

I expect the running game and the intermediate passing game to be successful. There's a lot of talent on offense coming back and I fully expect ND to be productive on that side of the ball.

If the running game and intermediate passing game are successful then the deep ball will be there. It isn't just speed that accounts for success in the deep passing game. It's about picking your spots through good play calling. If defense is up close to line expecting run or short pass it opens up holes downfield that can be exploited. Jerry Rice was famous for beating teams deep with rather ordinary speed.

Idk. I'll take a guy that can run the whole route tree. Look at what Mackensie Alexander said about Fuller at the combine; Alexander shut him down because he knew what route he was running 80% of the time.

Congrats to Clemson (not just Alexander) for "shutting down" Will Fuller.

That was accomplished by allowing Prosise and Brown to average 23 ypc. I think the stat was CJP, Breezy Torri had 250ish yards on 12 receptions with HUGE yards after the catch because the Clemson D was only in position to stop Fuller.

Ah yes Taylor #sixfigs Hamm. He did a similar thing with Hezekiah Jones; called him overrated right up until ATM moved into the drivers seat. Now he's a future all American. Dude is to A&M what Hopkins is to the Ducks.

They do have 4 higher ranked WR's in the bag but only Hezekiah Jones is in MY's class.

I'm gonna take it as someone inside the program told Hamm something and he's trying to put a bow on the turd so the fans think it's a gift.

Anyways, Young picks ND today and we get a player who has a different skill set coming out of HS than any player we currently have and I'm excited about that. We have a bunch of fantastic 6'4 ish guys and I think getting a smaller shifty yet ruthless blocker (seriously don't know that I've seen better blocking from a HS WR on film) is nothing but great for our WR core.
Go Irish!
BTW when is he announcing? Sorry if this has all ready been stated

Young brings a really exciting dynamic to this class. Will be a great addition if it is indeed ND. This WR class could be very impressive with a close of Young, OSB, and either Black/Holloman....... hopefully Holloman.

The funny thing is two-fold: they didn't stop Fuller, he stopped himself. He dropped over 100yds worth of catches in that game. 2-3 over 25 yards if my memory serves.

2nd: let's hope this isn't a sign of what happens to the offense when Fuller is out. :)

I believe we'll be able to fabricate offense with all the weapons we have. We have one of the most athletic TEs, an extremely robust RB group and a lot of talent at the WR position.

We need our OL to hold up in pass pro and open lanes for the RBs. Everything else will work out if that foundation is solid.

Alexander "shut down" Fuller because it was Kizer's first road start IN A BIBLICAL FUCKING RAIN STORM that made it virtually impossible to execute half the plays Fuller is successful on.

That game could've been a victory for us but we didn't deal with adversity well in the first half and then it was an unfortunate "too little too late" situation. We'll get em next time Gadget......NEST TIME!!!!

Remember when it was impossible to replace Floyd?

Well it only took till Young in '17 to get that level of blocking back at WR. As hard as Breezy tried, he was just really, really good.

So you think that after losing our top three WR from a year ago, we can replace them with unproven players and have more production and possibly have a better WR core?

Maybe, maybe not but we did it with the rushing game last year.

"In talking to former players and doing my research, I’m not going to lie, originally, I was thinking about going to Oregon,” said Young. “I thought that was the place to be. I was really pushing that way. Then I started having more conversations with players and taking into account other factors and I just realized that it wasn’t the place for me."

Thanks Kirk Merrit for the assist
