Hi guys. I'm looking for a wooden spoon. I've always wanted a wooden spoon and now I would like to get one. Can you tell me what a good wooden spoon brand is, where to get it and how much it costs? I would also be interested in how you use your wooden spoons? I've never personally used one, but I'm sure I'll be great at it. That's also the reason why I probably won't listen to any advice of yours on wooden spoons. But I would really appreciate the advice.

Is this a good wooden spoon?

I'm sure some internet bully on here will pile on me about this wooden spoon being used, but I don't want to hear about how it's unsafe or unsanitary. I just want your opinions on wooden spoons.

Thanks,

~Bug

I've been told, quite adamantly in fact, by my wife's family and other Hispanic girlfriends over the years that certain foods will be negatively impacted by using metal and such... thus you MUST use wooden for certain things, salsas and sauces especially. I have no idea if this is true and have never cared enough to research it but it did seem to be a real thing in that culture... I do enjoy using them if only for authenticity.

1. Get an aluminum pan. Marinate chicken in it. Grill chicken as you normally would. Enjoy shitty chicken.

2. A really nice trick... Oil thins as it's heated. The way you no oil is ready for pan-frying or stir-frying is by dipping a wooden spoon in the oil. If the oil flows towards and into the spoon, it's hot enough to start cooking. Note that this works on wood only and NOT bamboo.

I use metal spoons for my salsas. This wooden spoon won't be for salsas. So thanks for the advice, but I'm just looking for advice on wooden spoons.

Thanks,

the wife's family is italian and you wont find one damn plastic/metal cooking spoon in their houses. Wooden spoons only, especially for pasta sauce.

All the women on the Italian half of my family swear by the wooden spoon as a disciplinary device. OP, they'd surely recommend a heaftier wooden spoon that won't break when you have to lay down the law.

A few years ago there was a Sonic commercial where the two guys were sitting in their car eating Sonic chili and one said something about how it tasted just like the chili his mom made and how he could still remember seeing her standing over the stove stirring it with a wooden spoon. The other guy said, "You can use them for cooking???" Got my butt spanked on a regular basis as a kid by my mom using a wooden spoon. I was 20 before I realized you could use them for anything else. :)

Holy sh!!t.

Vacuums, non-pleated Haggar grandpa slacks, Harmonicas, now wooden spoons??? I'm a hair dryer thread away from starting a ND message board for men.

Now...

Make sure the wooden spoon you buy is maple or beech, never put it in a dishwasher with a heated drying cycle and whatever you do... don't give Yai Yia any lip while she's holding it. Not unless you have a catastrophic healthcare umbrella policy.

You've got a beard and flannel clothing, make your own.

I'm sorry. I've already decided to check it tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice though.

I don't understand why you wouldn't bend over for other's opinions? I guess you're your own man, a born decision maker.

Wooly, you may also wanna look into sandpaper, a very fine grain, just in case of splinters from the wood spoon.

If you get splinters, we can discuss which bandages/neosporin/peroxide is the best.

You don't have to understand. I just appreciate all of the opinions of IE members. I get the best advice here. Thanks for the feedback though.

If you don't like it... Block me...

I'm concerned some of you aren't taking this seriously enough. I have to make a decision by tomorrow for Amazon Prime day. Keep the advice coming!

Lol. Just wooly again having too much time on his hands. He finds time everyday of his life to tickle my butt with his nose.

I feel like you're piling on me just because you don't like my thread. Well, I couldn't care less what you think and I'm not going to quit telling it as it is. If you don't like wooden spoons, then that's your problem.

Block me if you don't like it.
