If I'm any of our tailbacks, I am putting in some extra work on catching the ball out of the backfield. It could be something that small that determines how many opportunities they get next year.

Pass pro, bro..

The fact that Kelly felt comfortable playing them this year tells me that he thinks they are ok in blitz pickup. But seriously............. learn how to catch the ball out of the backfield. That way, it doesn't matter how good the D Line you are facing is. If your O Line has a bad day, the coach can still get you the ball in space and let you make plays.

I haven't had an official "Favorite Player" in a while. I think my new favorite player is Josh.

Tremendous running back... Great size and speed... and most importantly, he seems like a good kid.

God, I still remember how even I didn't know where this kid would fit on the team. He was tall and lean and super athletic like maybe an elite wide receiver, but running back? Many didn't think we were even pursuing him that hard.

And then he blew up his senior year. And he was phenomenal as a freshman this past season. And now this?

This kid has surprised me as well as most of the board I'm sure, and I couldn't be happier. So glad to have him as part of the ND family.

There is getting to be a number of kids like this, some of whom haven't even stepped on campus! So many so that it has to be more than coincidence; GO IRISH!

“We have highly competitive guys,” Denson said. “A guy like Josh Adams isn’t looking at the film of what he does well. He’s looking at where he can improve his game.

. . .

[When asked if last year’s experience helped Josh Adams confidence --]

“Josh Adams’ confidence level was sky-high when he got to Notre Dame,” Denson said. “So it hasn’t done anything but grow. He’s confident; he’s not cocky. He puts in the work.

“If you’ve ever met his mother and realize his relationship with Christ, he’s a very humble young man. You don’t have to worry about him being complacent. He doesn’t know anything but to work. I’m thankful he came that way, but that’s the culture of the room.”

To keep continuity with the last posts from over a month ago in this thread, the praise keeps on rollin'!

Josh, Tarean, Dexter, and maybe Justin, all have the makings of champions in their own right.

But a coach saying something like this is above what you would expect. Not only does it say volumes about the player, but it says as much positively about the coach!

Denson is the best running back coach ND has had since at least the Holtz era.

And this stable of running backs has been called by friend and foe, 'an embarrassment of riches,' as well as, multiple times by the press this spring.

I expect each of the four running backs to play at a higher level that their counterparts did on last years team. I don't think that is a stretch, at all.

This may be the greatest depth chart of running backs since Reggie, Ricky, Rocket, Jerome, and Julius!

Just think if Ronald Jones had decided to play for the good guys. He with Adams in a single class would've been unbelievable.

Yeah, that guy is going to be a handful in the future.

The kid went from being super interested in ND to committing to Southern Cal after almost no talk about any interest in the Trojans. What a friggin' nut punch.

"While he won’t likely climb into the Fournette, McCaffery conversation at the top of the heap, he’s got potential that’s not far off that."

He showed me last year that he can get to the top of the heat. He has the size, power and speed to do it. With a very good year under his belt, he's more comfortable with the offense and is probably stronger and a touch faster.

The only thing keeping him from that convo is that he'll never have to carry the ball 25 times a game like those two.

He also had the patience and vision to let holes develop and the initiative to explode through them once they did, despite being a freshman. This is especially important in a zone blocking scheme where there isn't necessarily a predetermined hole at the beginning of the play.

He's alright I guess.

That he is, and the B/R edits are pretty good too. I was surprised no one posted these in their profile threads. The ESB on is great. The B/R partnership was a wise one.

Has only carried the ball 33 times this year...obviously needs to get more touches.

I do understand part of the reason is in 2 of the 3 games the team was playing from behind.
