Easy for you to say, you aren't getting PMs like this:

Can someone please point out to me where I assumed that Greg was involved in something?

Brother, im not saying its easy or hard to drop it... especially if you feel your being "attacked personally" in PMs, BUT, a young man just passed away, and that has touched us all. So at least, maybe just leave the back and forth in PMs, regardless of who's right or wrong in your issue.

just sayin....

Yeah, here is another article telling basically the same story, with some other comments from Bryant's uncle:

Shooting victim Bryant was visiting family before UAB debut | www.palmbeachpost.com

I definitely hoped that the other guy in the car would be able to shed some light on what happened, but it sounds like he can't or won't. I hope the authorities have something to go on so they can catch whoever is responsible.

I mean...based on where they were, and who GB was, I can imagine GB and his buddy got lots of attention...fill in the blanks from there.

Point is it was senseless and the the type of person who'd kill someone over this kind of thing ain't real discrete...just a matter of time before they get to answer for it.

I have faith in Florida's Finest...I have faith justice will be done, regardless of the failings of the legal system.

Not that I'm a fan of BSPN but FWIW, that article about deciding on organ donation was sourced partially via the AP and there are numerous similar references at multiple news sites. While theirs is the only one that mentioned "grieving", which I know the family is, it's out there elsewhere as well. NBC 6 in South Florida, NBC Miami, WSMV, WDRB, etc.

I'm a member of a couple of ND FB groups and had been posting updates but I can't bring myself to share some of these recent articles there. I want justice for him but reading how he was visiting family and was supposed to be heading to Alabama the day it happened just saddens me. For whatever reason, I honestly don't think I've been this sad over an athlete passing since Thurman Munson in 1979.

Didn't grow up a Bear fan huh?

My wallpaper on my phone is a pic of a buddy of mine, Malik and GB from last years spring game. The same day 'Mom and Notre Dame' took the picture above.

I've been around a while and have seen this happen too many times. It never gets easier..

Just read that his organs may have saved 5-7 lives, glad that his family chose to go that route. In their time of immense sorrow, they have given a few families hope for a loved one.

I hate seeing RIP behind his name.

Son-of-a-bitch.

2 paths fellas. Stairway to heaven and a highway to hell.

When you meet a good soul there's 2-4 bad ones looking to harm you.

Stay aware.

Interesting lil side, I have a hernia and was told by my doctor that any adult with an outie actually just has a hernia,... Guessing my boy GB would have needed hernia surgery at some point....

Anyway, this hit me pretty hard, I'm not sure I rooted for a non star at ND to become a star harder than I ever did with Greg... I'm just beside myself still on all of this... Mixed up... All I can provide is genuine caring and comments on hernias.

I agree with the bold part. I don't know why this has hit me harder than any other death of a person I do not know. When Asaph Schwapp passed, I was a huge fan of his from his freshman year and when he passed I was taken aback. But with Greg it just caused a different feeling that words can not express.

This is one of the most apropos posts of all time, as well as one of the greatest. If ten per cent of the posters (myself included) take 10% of what knowledge and wisdom is available in this article, posting on IE will be more fun.

If 75 per cent of the posters, take most of what knowledge and wisdom is contained in this article to heart, and live it, we will have a revolutionary movement on our hands.

I will share with you the most emotional event of my week. My eighth-grade daughter brought home a school paper this week, with a note written by the teacher in the margin. It said, "How does a 14-year-old have such wisdom?" Ma Belle Amie, is yet only 13, but the rest of what he said was accurate.

What did she write? When asked what happiness was she made three points, which I have to paraphrase from memory here :

  • Happiness is when you can look in the mirror and be accepting of what you see, imperfections and all.
  • Happiness is waking up in the morning refreshed, because you realize you went to bed with no regrets.
  • Happiness is doing the best you can and what you want, but never putting yourself or your goals ahead of loving another person, their health, or well being. Instead, bringing them along, inviting them, and including them in achieving your goals, together.

It was if I had the wind knocked out of me.

The last couple of weeks have been rough here in Bog-town. Not as bad as what the Bryant family has been through, but some trauma cased by man's inhumanity toward man, is the common theme and subject of the day.

And with all that there was this one bright ray of light that penetrated the darkness.

As far as creating a user name that claims Kmoose is a racist, why? And how would this get approved by moderators? I don't think any of us have the right to make that judgement, do we? I mean isn't that the point of the anti-PC crowd that rails against well-intentioned but stupid excess?

If someone can make the assumption that kmoose is racist, then those that keep pounding the 'good kid trying to escape from a bad environment' cliché must be just as much racist, right? Both are making assumptions about what happened with absolutely no evidence, whatsoever, only their own prejudices and assumptions, based upon the stereotypes they maintain.

Let me explain the difference between anecdote and evidence. I used both of these words specifically. I am trying to make the point that there can be elements of the truth in any story. In fact, a story can be mostly true, but if certain things are twisted, context is not maintained, or any personal agenda is brought in, or factuality is not established, the story is worthless, until it is finally backed up with evidence. I will use a personal example.

I recently had someone steal property, and cash from me in excess of low five-figures. I knew this when it happened. I even knew who did it. But it didn't matter. Until I got a call from someone this person, 'pissed-off.'

The second individual gave me a name and a location of where the thief sold a few of the stolen goods. I was able to go in to that place of business and have them print out a copy of my original bill of sale, and provide date times and information about second transaction, where the thief sold back my goods.

When I called the police out, they took the information in a theft report, and a warrant will be sworn out on felony theft charges, and this person will be arrested. But until I got that call and was able to conclusively link possession of those items by serial number to the person to committed the act, it was anecdotal, hearsay, basically non-factual. The second the call came in with that one piece of information, the exact same details became fact. 'The whole truth.'

When I hear people whine and moan about the criminal justice system, I suspect this single process is what the gas bags are complaining about. And taking that a step further, what they are really mad at is when they are not capable of providing this final piece. So they are really mad at themselves, and angry with the world.

This week I will send someone business to business and find out where most of the items were sold off. And I will swear out an affidavit or two, implicating the involvement of several confederates of this person. I will force them to reveal all the information I need about what this person did with the cash component of the theft. To borrow a quote from one of my mentors, "I am not the kind of businessman that gets ulcers, I am the kind that gives them!"

How does this relate? The only thing I can think of that can be stated in this thread is that Greg Bryant has been murdered, and how that affects each of us, by expressing our feelings. This bickering back and forth about entirely ancillary, and trivial points is more unpalatable to me, than the theft that occurred against me.

Nope, Cowboys fan since '71.

No it doesn't get easier and I've experienced my share of personal loss but as another poster mentioned previously, this one just hit me harder than usual. I just hate seeing kids that are at least trying to do something with their lives having it cut short so young, especially when there are so many that couldn't GAS about improving themselves as people.

It could be that with the internet/social media, etcetera that you read and hear so much about recruits that you become more familiar with them as people, even without knowing them personally. In my case, there seems to be one or two kids that I root for harder than others every year to do well. They're generally players that are so grateful for the opportunity to better their lives that you can't help but root for them.

I remember Devin Butler's freshman season, after the first game, he was on social media asking if anyone could find a picture of him from the game. You could tell he was excited and I sent him a link to a gallery that had him standing with the team with a huge smile on his face. Someone asked him where he found it later and he just said some guy sent it to him but I was happy to do it because I was happy for him. He's been maligned by some as a player but these are still young ND men, many of whom know the value of their experience.

I've read that Greg later regretted not sticking it out at ND but he was still trying to better himself. There was a story about him at UAB being excited about having his highest GPA ever, something along those lines. I obviously don't know but I think he "got it." It's just sad he wasn't able to see it through.

Why was former Notre Dame player Greg Bryant gunned down?

The shooting has been ruled a homicide and Detective Lori Colombino of the West Palm Beach Police Department said no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified. But Boston, a manager at Sugar Daddy’s, said he found something suspicious while combing through the surveillance video police recently obtained.

One clip shows Bryant dancing on stage with a local rap group; another shows him smoking a cigarette and sipping a drink; and additional footage shows him mostly keeping to himself in the club’s VIP section between his arrival at about 3:15 a.m. and his departure at about 4:30 a.m. Then, Boston cued up the video footage of what he described as a “suspicious” white Nissan Altima outside the club.

A heavyset man circled the car, tapped on the driver’s window and later climbed into the driver’s seat as Bryant prepared to leave the club. Bryant, behind the driver’s wheel of his stepfather’s black four-door Chrysler, pulled off the lot and turned right onto South Military Trail at 4:30 a.m. About 30 seconds later, the white Altima headed the same way.
