Not sure that qualifies as a red flag. The NFL has problems with players abusing women, drugs and alcohol, etc. If you want red flags look at a guy like Tyler Higbee not whether a kid can cook.

Also off topic but when I opened this thread I read the OP and Koons statement that Annie Apple defended Greg Hardy is completely false. She said why should he repent when no one ever holds him accountable and that she is no longer a Cowboys fan bc of Hardy, hardly a defense. Not sure why she receives so much criticism here just bc she was over the top in criticizing BK who himself was over the top in his sideline antics.

What's up with Higbee?

Guy's a super-talent that was hidden away at WKU, but I don't pay quite close enough attention to know about off-the-field stuff.

You're right she isn't defending Greg Hardy. Apologist is the word I should've used. Yes, she critiques his domestic violence. I mean... duh.

But she's ultimately an apologist for him in the article. She says he isn't entirely to blame for being who he is, and instead blames a bunch of other people for "enabling" Greg Hardy. She basically says that it's everyone else's fault that he isn't growing, learning, or showing contrition.

But he’s not the only one to blame for his actions. Those who hire him and allow him to escape justice are also culpable.

As repulsive and infuriating as Hardy’s behavior of domestic violence has been, I don’t blame him for his disdain at reporters, authorities and life in general.

But Rice has reportedly undergone counseling and is contrite and deserves a place in the NFL; at least that’s the narrative we’re now being spoon-fed repeatedly by ESPN. But Greg Hardy is the devil because he won’t play the role of repentant abuser. But why should he be apologetic? Jerry Jones hired him without contrition.

It all tied in directly to Kelly, because the vitriol she displayed there was ten fold the general ambivalence displayed towards Hardy. She also called for the media to basically lay off Hardy, and then critiqued them for "silence" on Brian Kelly (meanwhile Clay Travis did a segment saying Kelly should go to jail, so she's just ignorant). That's ridiculous. And if you're going to self-style yourself an opinion blogger, I'm allowed to point out when you're being a dolt in your public comments.

Ok fair enough and my apologies to you and Koon for confusing who made the OP.

He punched a dude outside a bar at like 2 am and the guy had to be airlifted to a hospital where he remained for several days with bleeding on the brain. After hitting the guy Higbee fled from the cops. He's claiming self defense and defense of others but a witness statement conflicts this. I cant remember exactly what witness said happened but basically they were arguing, gf tried to keep Higbee from fighting, Higbee was out of control and after knocking dude out said something like "ISIS my nuts" not sure the victims ethnicity but had an Islamic sounding name. Higbee has pending felony assault charge along with a host of misdemeanors related to alcohol and fleeing the scene.

Tight end prospect Tyler Higbee arrested for assault 18 days before the NFL Draft - SBNation.com

One of the more athletic and promising tight ends of the 2016 NFL Draft, Western Kentucky's Tyler Higbee, was arrested early Sunday morning for second-degree assault, public intoxication and evading police, according to Warren County Regional Jail records.

According to a police report obtained by Zach Greenwell of the Bowling Green Daily News, Higbee punched a man outside a Kentucky bar and left the victim with a brain hemorrhage. As of Monday morning, the victim is in stable condition, but still unresponsive.

The victim, Nawaf Alsaleh, was found by police lying unconscious in a bar parking lot "with blood running from his mouth." Via Greenwell:

Higbee stated that Alsaleh got in the "personal space" of him and his girlfriend "and was calling his friends telling them to come to their location to fight Higbee."

"I asked Higbee how he knew that because Higbee said Alsaleh was speaking in a language he did not understand," the officer wrote in the report. "Higbee said that he 'just knew.' " Once at the jail, Higbee told the officer "that Alsaleh never tried to fight him or come after him as if he was going to harm him. Higbee just said that Alsaleh got into his and (his girlfriend's) personal space so he hit Alsaleh," according to the report.

Higbee maintains it was self-defense and intends to plead not guilty, his attorney told NFL Media.

Higbee was one of only two Western Kentucky players invited to the NFL Combine in February, but didn't participate in drills due to a knee injury suffered late in the 2015 season. However, he impressed at his pro day despite still not being healthy enough to participate fully.

Before the arrest, one NFL tight ends coach told Jody Demling of Scout.com that it would be a surprise if Higbee didn't get picked before the fourth round. He was drawing plenty of recent interest from teams, too, including a visit with the Denver Broncos and a workout with the New Orleans Saints. He was reportedly drawing attention from coaches of the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead.

Higbee caught 38 passes for 563 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, but missed five games due to injury.

Thanks for the info guys, and sorry for making you dig it up.

I would have googled him myself, I just thought Shawnee meant that Higbee was a red-flag in general, not about a specific incident.

In addition to the alleged crime he has injury history and played against questionable competition. I wouldn't draft him before the 7th round if I was a GM.

100% agree with you.

Honestly I've lived with my parents, in dorms at college, with my first wife and my current fiance. i barely know how to cook myself. I can make eggs, pasta, grill stuff and bake some things but that's it.

Also, I'm pretty sure a wonderlic score of 21 is pretty much average, so that isn't bad at all.

Complete crap IMO

You know the definition of "insanity", right?

would eli's mom's mouth cause him to fall in stock?

Tie breaker for me...if I'm looking at two players and they grade out virtually the same, I'm taking the player w/o the mom with a mouth problem.

No way. Pro teams don't give a crap about parents unless you're someone like Archie Manning. She can call the front office all she wants, send text (if she can find a number), tweet, e-mail, vine, blog, etc. She's not getting the attention of the coach, GM or owner.

The Giants problem in the first round is not the players they get, it's that they don't trade back to get them. The Giants are completely opposed to trading back for some reason. Eli Apple was not going to be drafted until 15 or 16 AT BEST. Pick up an extra 3rd or 4th rounder to move back a few spots and take the same guy. That's all I ask.

I understand the frustration, but it's just not always possible. Especially this year when the the perceived value of players outside of that top tier is roughly the same from 9 through about 30 or so.

Jerry Reese confirmed that they turned down a deal to trade down. There is always a team willing to move up. Sure you might not get "great" value but if they Giants could have even picked up an extra 4th or 2 5ths it would have been worth it.

My mistake. I don't follow the Giants, but I see people complain about it a lot. Apologies.
