I see a lot of this stuff on Facebook. It's auto-generated merchandise based on your Facebook activity. If someone is a USC fans, but expresses the rest of the same interests, "USC" would be subbed in for "ND."

I get a lot of ads for shirts and hoodies based on my past jobs, which are job titles that no one makes shirts for lol.

I often wonder how they get by trademark laws when they generate content like that.

Certainly wouldn't be able to wear it on campus either, it would probably get confiscated. My uncle made up some shirts, or he bought one (Don't remember) that had Lou picking grass as he always did, but in front of the White House. The shirt said "Lou in '92." I don't recall what else was on it, but there were enough references to Notre Dame to make it a no-no. All the shirts ended up getting confiscated while on campus.

I believe so, he was wearing it and they asked him to turn it in, all shirts were taken. He may have been offered a different shirt or was forced to wear another, I don't recall. I'd have to ask them again for the details to be sure, it's been a decade since I heard the story. My mom still had one of the shirts in the 90s, she didn't wear it to the game, that's why she was able to keep it.
