Honestly, this situation is so messed up. Good on Rosenhaus (who seems like a soulless bastard) to try and not keep Johnny on his path of destruction. When you are so clueless to where you are at personally (as his TMZ interview showed), someone needs to put the foot down. I hope Johnny heads to rehab and fixes his life. As much as I dislike the SEC and the "football over everything" culture, no one deserves to lose their life over it.

Obviously the stuff about his agent dropping him has been mentioned here, but I hadn't read the stuff about the house Manziel destroyed:

Report: Johnny Manziel, friends trash $4.5M house, do $32K in damages - CBSSports.com

Johnny Manziel's agent (for now) Drew Rosenhaus says the former NFL quarterback is back in Texas after spending time in Los Angeles earlier this month. And that's probably best for everyone involved.

Manziel desperately needs to get his life in order, at least according to those close to him, and that probably wasn't going to happen in L.A. The New York Post's Emily Smith reports that Manziel and a friend rented a house in West Hollywood last week, promptly threw "two all-night ragers" and when it was over, "allegedly caused $32,000 in damage" to the $4.5 million property.

Then there's this:

It's claimed Manziel and his group left the house strewn with booze and drugs, broke an expensive glass table and a bathroom door, and left wine stains and cigarette burns on carpets.

Nicholas Goodwin, who works for LA Exotic Life, rented the house to Manziel and Goodwin's attorney, Niki Ghazian, has already written a letter to the quarterback's representatives.

“Mr. Manziel threw large parties on both nights, causing extensive damage ... Evidence suggests [Manziel] and his guests were consuming drugs and alcohol ... and that they caused a disturbance to the neighborhood."

The Los Angeles Police Department was called on April 6, according to Ghazian.

There's more and it's not great.

Goodwin tells Page Six he returned to the house to find it trashed and Manziel crashed on the sofa at 2 p.m. He said, “They were supposed to check out at noon. Manziel was passed out ... There was cocaine all over the kitchen table, and mushrooms were still out on the table in front of him. There was booze everywhere ... broken glasses over the floor and a Champagne glass in a tree.” He added, “If they don't respond to our demand for compensation, we will sue.” Manziel, his lawyers, and [agent] DrewRosenhaus didn't get back to us.

Meanwhile, Rosenhaus told PFT Live on Friday that he's worried that he and Manziel aren't "on the same page" about what the quarterback needs to do to get his life together.

“Unfortunately there hasn't been any movement toward getting help or seeking treatment that I'm aware of. I'm trying diligently to recommend this to Johnny. I'm not the first one, certainly not the only one. There are a lot of friends and family and people that want the best for this young man. He's got a plan, it's just different than the one he and I talked about and what I would recommend to him.”

Rosenhaus and Manziel have different ideas of what staying on track means. Rosenhaus isn't alone, either; Manziel's father said in February that his son won't live to see 24 if he doesn't get help.

Earlier this month, Manziel was spotted early one morning outside Le Jardin in Hollywood. He told TMZ that he had "been staying on track," adding: “The L.A. party scene is alright. I'm not really partying, though. I'm just out with some buddies. No drinking. Hanging with the boys, man. ... I'm out at the spots. I'm eating good food. Not doing anything crazy though, being smart. ... I'm not always partying. I'm just out having a good time with my boys and not drinking.”

Who rents a house to the Money Badger? Seems like a stupid move.

I'm surprised by 30 for 30 hasn't been produced by now. This story is over

It's not over until he nearly OD's, hits rock bottom, tries to make a comeback, fails during said comeback, then does Dancing with the Stars. After all that, then you get your 30 for 30.

Johnny Manziel indicted by Dallas County grand jury on misdemeanor assault charge

I like how they bring up the fact he was a Heisman winner. Let's not forget:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award (usually known colloquially as the Heisman Trophy or The Heisman), is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.

A lot of us were calling even back in 2012 that he didn't deserve the award based on the integrity bit. He's only gone downhill since 2012. I likened his "Integrity" to Reggie Bush's at that point in time, but he makes Bush look like a saint for taking some cash from an agent.

In any case, between Bush, the Money Badger, and "Crabby" Winston the Heisman has become somewhat of a joke award. The media seems to always push whichever player they want to win, whoever is going to generate the most headlines, and I feel like the award isn't worth pursuing anymore. It's not worth putting it on a pedestal for one of our athletes.

Once Winston got it, I stopped caring. The significance of the award is nothing like it used to be.

It's still just as significant. But it's not an award about being a great student-athlete or a good person anymore. It's an MVP-style award.

To you perhaps, to me, no. There's too much history associated with it. That's what made it much more significant than any of the other awards. It wasn't just an MVP ward. To disregard the history and what it meant and start awarding it to the MVP just makes it like any of the other awards. I couldn't even tell you who won the Heisman the last couple of years.

That's exactly the point, history has already been discarded. It's not the award it was 20-30 years ago. It's changed, it's almost completely driven by the media now. They push whatever player is the "MVP" on and off the field, whoever is going to draw the most headlines (Good or bad). It's good for business. T'eo was awesome during the season in 2012, but I think we can admit by now that a large reason he finished #2 that year was his story during the season. He probably would have won, but Manziel fever took over. There were some linebackers that finished with better numbers, and yes they weren't as instrumental to their teams, but it was Manti's story that helped propel him to the Heisman runner-up.

I said before the Browns drafted him that this kid would most likely end up dead in a ditch somewhere... I wasn't trying to be cute or funny or anything like that, just being honest with what I expected... I'm still there... this kid is going to kill himself.
