So we just gonna sit here and act like Tranquil didn't get burned like toast when he started for Redfield? Imo, he needs to stick to that 3rd down/ passing situation blitzer who was a playmaker.

We have only had a small sample size from Drue thus far. However, he has done some great things in that time. He was also an underclassman starting over more experienced guys because the coaches trusted him more. That is very telling to me as well. Sure, there are things that he can improve upon, but overall I have been thrilled with his effort and performance to date.

Tranquill won't be playing FS which is where he got fairly consistently burned while filling in for Redfield. It also sounds like on obvious passing downs, they may move him closer to the line and have a different guy come in as the SS. I forgot which podcast it was, but someone was saying Spencer Perry is the SS in our Dime package, and Tranquill slides to a different position.

Yeah, from everything I have heard, after a good first look, they see Perry as more of a developmental project.

I don't think anyone really sees Tranquil as a free safety. Where he had beaucoup success was at strong.

Finally, look for a number of players to fill a hybrid role as a flexible sixth defender that can play off the ball in coverage or come up and stop the run. Looking at highlights some of the incoming freshmen have tremendous highlights indication they could do this, and all you have to look at is the GT game from last year to see Tranquil excel at this.

That's a 6 week injury, plus short rehab afterwards.

Surprised dad4aa was even questioned, what he says has always been solid

I wasn't really trying to say he was wrong or starting a rumor I was just surprised no one mentioned it but him. He was on top of it and deserves the props

That is an extremely difficult bone to break. It almost requires a perfect storm of bad luck to make happen, between the angle and the force needed.

So you're saying that ND is unlucky when it comes to players being injured? I'm not sure that's a popular opinion around these parts.

Nick had surgery again today. Hope he makes a quick recovery and doesn't miss the whole season. Was looking forward to seeing him play more.

Damn....not a good day on injury front.

I have read that Ashton White has played very well though. Not the best athlete, but supposedly great technique.

Betting Vaughn and Pride creep up the depth chart and pass some folks (not starters) by mid season. Would prefer both RS, but if we have any injuries to Luke, Coleman, or Crawford, thinking one of them will see time.

It's going to stink if Watkins misses significant amount of time. Remember Butler is most likely out the entire season. And Watkins was going to play outside corner when Crawford moves down to nickel.

Yeah, it's definitely a big loss. We have bodies but they are young bodies. Hopefully this freshman class is ready to play because I'd count on 10-15 players logging plays this fall. I'm betting on 5-7 being consistent contributors.

Really think we should be more than fine with White and Coleman. I'm very high on Coleman, and some people think White is a "gamer"... so we're still 4 deep right now at what should be good CBs without even touching the frosh.

If Butler plays significant time, we're in trouble. Just my opinion.

Nickel package would be Luke, Coleman and Crawford right? That's prett tight disregarding future injuries.

Okay, not saying dad is wrong, but I checked things out on ISD, and there's nothing about Watkins having surgery. Matt responded stating that his source was monitoring Watkins for most of the day and he didn't have surgery.

Maybe wrong, but they were very quick to report MDT's injury, so I'd expect they'd be quick to drop the bomb about Watkins.
