I'd never want to go there, but that was her first choice. It's typically ranked a top ten, if not top five school. US News and World Report has the Universiry of Chicago tied with Stanford at number 4. They're widely considered a better school overall than Northwestern. Perhaps I misunderstand you, but I'm not sure why you seem to be disparaging the liberal arts. They have a lot of first rate scholars in the humanities.

Not disparaging the liberal arts, or UChicago's academics. Also not referring to their grad program, which I am personally considering for an MBA. It's more like, their undergraduate culture just seems vexing to me. Stanford consider themselves to be nerdy, but in reality they're at the epicenter of an exciting technical revolution that really impacts lives across the country and have amazing talents across all aspects of the university--- technical, humanities, business, athletics. UChicago just seems like it's screaming from the rooftops, come here if instead of being challenged to do exciting, possibly uncomfortable things you've never done before, you'd rather spend all four years in the library. Because you can do that anywhere, it seems weird to me that someone would rather go there than a place that has changed the way they educate people since 1950.

Ah, got it. My niece has a great, sarcastic sense of humor, but she definitely would call herself nerdy.

Ready for this crap? Here is betting that he doesnt get into Stanford and signs with Bama. What a crock of crap that would be!

TTown, does Bama have room for 1 more or will they just pull the famous Saban Grey Shirt talk at the last minute with one of their other recruits?
This is actually where I'm at.

Not much talk coming from the Bama camp on him. Until he actually shows up on campus, I don't think anyone will take him as a serious possibility.

Hey he is a serious possibility for Stanford without visiting.

Hell he was committed to bama at one point. That puts them as good as chance as anyone, IMO.

But he's had the ability to visit Bama's campus repeatedly and cancels everytime. It's an ND/Stanford battle.

I dunno. I think Ga is the team that may get him in the end. He likes Kirby and he has at least two or three players there that he has said he wants to play with in college. I read that he would decide on whether he will OV at Bama or Ga soon so that should effectively eliminate one. Guess we will see.

I agree to an extent. If any SEC team were to get him, it would be Georgia. But, since he just cancelled a Georgia visit, I'll stick with an ND/Stanford battle.

But wasn't there a report that UGA landed a WR on NSD and DR actually re-opened communication with Bama because of that? I dunno, I get the Barnett vibe here where everyone is waiting for the Oregon pop and all of a sudden it's Bama.

You have to keep in mind that Barnett's situation was very unique. An Oregon beat writer kept pressing the kid about reopening his commitment and in favor of the Ducks suggesting that there were better long-term homes for him than ND. Once he did reopen his commitment, he visited the Ducks, like everyone expected, but he wasn't going to just flip his recruitment; he should give all the big dogs a look. Bama, if I recall had just lost their stud QB recruit, Barnett visited there, figured they gave him the best shot of playing in the pros and committed.

The only reason Oregon was really REALLY in the picture in that instance was freaking Hopkins. He had been talking about Barnett flipping to Oregon for months so once he decommitted everyone figured Hopkins must be right...NOPE.

In the end, we got a stud of our own (thanks PSU) so it's all actually kinda funny because Hopkins and Oregon got SCREWED.

They ended up with Waller right?

Just for clarification:

So Robertson is supposed to decide this week?

And he's not visiting any school this current weekend?

At this point if we get him we get him if we don't then we don't I'm not gonna lose sleep over him I love the class we brought in. To me if he wanted to be here he would have committed by now. Something is holding him back.

You won't be a little bit perturbed being spurned after signing day for what would be the best recruit in the 2016 class?

I keep saying I'm not going to open this thread until I see a commit on the front page, but every time I open it and ........nothing new.

I wasn't on the board back then. Was it chaos?
I wouldn't call it chaos. But the backlash against 247 was crazy. There was an organized boycott and then backlash against the boycott. In fact, I think at least one member signed up after it happened to continue updates. I found it funny.

I'll bet you 5 top recruits do this next year. What a way to build your brand. He'll be the biggest trending name in the recruitniksphere until he signs. For those that like the shine, this is the new normal.

The US Army Bowl announcement, hats on a table, "I'll be taking my talents to...", the announcement video,

...now it's the extended signing period.

It's a copycat process.

Pryor, Neal and others have done it in the past. Doesn't seem to have caught on like you are expecting.

I think the new thing will be what Gary did. Actually going to ESPN headquarters and making the announcement.

So you're saying a move from Bristol to Hotlanta is probable? Wizard better pack (purchase) some sunscreen and work on his "regional diction."

I heard that he hasn't committed yet because he wants to quit football and take up underwater basket weaving.
He's waiting on a scholarship offer from University of Phoenix, who happens to have the best UBW program in the country. Football is just a safety net.

I fully expect to see: "Demetris Robertson (DeVry University: Signed LOI)"
