Back in 96 my daughter applied to ND, USC, Vandy and IU. ND is the only school that didn't accept her.
What? Are you serious? Hope you're talking South Carolina.

Nope. Vandy put her on a wait list because she applied late so it was basically between USC and IU. Funny thing was USC was offering a lot in scholarship and grant money. IU didn't offer anything. When I spoke to a lady at IU about any financial aid she was shocked that my daughter would consider USC over IU. She didn't like it when I mentioned a better degree for less money.
Unfortunately, my daughter had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery right when school was to start so she ended up at IU.
Back to DRob...........Some blasted Kelly for saying education was important, then picked OU. No one can say that about DRob given his two finalist are ND and the tree.
BTW.........Are there any other high recruits who haven't signed yet?
Auston Robertson IN DE. Something off must have happened as be reopened his recruitment on Signing Day.

Thanks guys, was just answering his question about high-profile recruits that haven't signed yet. I know there is not a chance of us getting him, and did not realize that what he did was to that level. Hate to see things like that.

ND takes legacy admissions to a pretty ridiculous level, imo. The legacy admit rate is apparently 50%, compared to 20% overall. So it helps a lot. ND says that this is because legacies are more highly qualified, and could go to Harvard but choose to go to ND. I'd like to look at GPAs and SAT scores for legacies as opposed to non-legacies, but ND doesn't reveal that data for some reason.
Legacies + recruited athletes + affirmative action admits = 35-40% of any given ND class. This is why everyone's favorite former admissions officer said that "the poor schmuck who has to get in on his own has to walk on water."
Yes, this has been covered many times before. He is a very good student. But Stanfords admission standards are at another level.
Check his thread, he was arrested last month so he's pretty much in limbo.
He opened it back up because Sparty changed their mind for the moment. Robertson got in trouble with the law. His second brush in about 6-7 months.
he was expelled from high school and charged with battery in mid january. MSU waiting to see if he can unfuck himself before they accept his commitment

What else the public may not know, if you improve your SAT by a significant amount (probably less than what is needed in this case - logic is to sway a school like Stanford with their policy and procedures, it would have to be nearly earth shattering!), there would immediately be an NCAA investigation. The crawling through your briefs kind, which would include taking apart a prospective signee's entire high school transcript.

Are we even sure they are making exceptions though? Don't most think this is all a pipedream on Robertson's end?
No, I don't think anyone is sure. I don't think anyone really knows exactly what's going on with Robertson, because it doesn't follow any of their established procedures. I only have one Stanford friend that also cares about their sports, and he is consistently incredulous that he can be considered by Stanford at this point. For example, he's over a month past the deadline by which everyone must apply, so if Stanford followed their own basic rules he can't even be considered. Is David Shaw just screwing with ND? Or are we watching a paradigm shift?
Because the other part of this is that Robertson reportedly doesn't have an academic profile anywhere close to what is needed for Stanford. Apparently it's borderline for ND admissions, too. This was reported on Scout or 247 or one of those places. Everything is very fishy and it's hard to put much stock in anything that is put out there.
Final prediction: Houston.
Holy $hit......I cannot believe this is STILL being discussed/debated/argued about.....whatever. If he signs, he signs, if not, we face him for 4 years. I cannot believe we're still back and forth on this!!!!

Sounds like divine intervention to me.
I tell my girls all the time, "You can do whatever you want in life so long as you are law biding, productive, and make some kind of a positive impact. So that also means one thing you definitely can't do is go to, or root for, USC."
I win at parenting.
Right, USC has a lower admit rate than ND but it actually requires a significantly higher SAT/GPA to get in for your "average" student.
