Not sure why the staff is wasting time on this kid. He isn't coming here.

Thank god you're on the inside. Like Others have said it's establishing a relationship in the area building PR helping build the brand to expose ND to future recruits etc. he prob won't end up here but it's ok to take the press that comes with it for the area that bleeds SEC

Can I get one of the recruiting nuts on this site to weigh in on if this is all smoke on his end to build some semblance of drama on signing day? Paging Lucci, TP, Lax, and the like (you know who you are).

Maybe they:

- mention that they've had 2 of the last 4 Butkus award winners,
- mention that our roster is empty, and that he'll likely play next year
- pretend to hand him a copy of our roster, but "accidentally" hand him this:

22 Ryan Anderson LB JR 6-2/249 2L Daphne, Ala. (Daphne) - 4 stars/96

Great post, however, there's a lot to factor in. Alabama has 4 LB slots, compared to our 3, thus there's a need for more LB's. Second, Alabama is replacing 3 of their 4 starting LB's, the only returning starter being Reuben Foster, so Davis would most likely be vying for a starting role in fall camp, or at the very least, see a lot of time in a rotation.

Dont kid yourself, this kid wont see play time for 2+ years with Bama depth. You saw the list....Bama depth is amazing. Im not saying the kid wont play but not anytime soon.

Sad thing about Bama and all the guys that go there on Sabans promise of stardom...so many flush out and wind up working for the city or in jail. Im sure Saban sat in their living rooms telling there moms how he was going to take such good care of them and fast forward three years and they either arent in school anymore or going nowhere fast.

Sure Bama turns a ton of talent out to the pros but they also have a ton of people that never see degrees nor playtime and it isnt because of the pros calling.

The good thing for Davis is the relationship he built with Denson. The comments he made about Denson shows how good of a person he really is.

“It’s going to be interesting,” Davis said. “The visit was unbelievable. I have never had that many coaches from one school come … I named Alabama my leader because I had a great visit, but right now I don’t have a leader because my eyes have opened up.”

Kelly was joined by Irish defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, linebackers coach Mike Elston, running backs coach Autry Denson and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght.

Davis said the head man made his final face-to-face pitch simple.

“He said there’s plenty of playing time. If I come up there, I’m going to have to play and contribute early. He said there’s a great support staff there and that I would have not only for the four years that I’m there, but also when I graduate,” Davis said.

Guessing premium 24/7 because Loy tweeted something about Davis saying NSD will be "interesting"

Better bump that Reddit thread in case the site goes down again due to the idiots coming out, posting premium info.

Try to remember to link or credit the author, fellas. That makes it easier to know whether or not the info can be posted word-for-word.

Right and that's why I am on this site. To get that exact info for free haha.

But I was wrong on the quote above being premium. I remember last year there was an issue on IE with people posting premium info word from word and I believe it was around this time too.

If Davis develops as expected, he would see the field at Bama in some capacity next fall. As far as the rest of your post, I would comment but I am busy working on my sermon for my prison ministry. Enjoy.

Now fill it full of donated Under Armour ND clothing & ND labeled water bottles, drive it to the Fresno Diocese office, hire a port a pit company to have a street fair. Hand out the swag along with free hot dogs and drinks... then donate the truck load of clothes and water to the Diocese / Catholic Charities and the Mayor to distribute to the homeless and under privelaged in honor of Kanai.

The only interesting thing that will happen on signing day is deciding which color Bama hat to put on

So either ND feels that there is enough of a chance (even if they know it's not likely) that he selects ND that they took the truck back home the long way

or

They know that they have no shot at Davis, but are maximizing exposure of the use of the truck to get the attention of other recruits.

In general, I think the recruiting of Ben Davis is for exposure not because they sincerely believe they'll land him. Was it a good choice of time and resources? We'll have to see.

If it ends up with no commitment it is still worth the effort. Just getting in to a school in LA - Lower Alabama - is a win for the Irish. I am sure some relationships with coaches were made as well as some contacts that may very well end up getting the Irish at the front of the line with the next recruit. Can't sign 'em if you ain't willing to go where they are at. Kudos to the Irish staff for trying.
