I'll put in my prediction of 3.56% we land Davis. Imagine the shit show the bama boards would turn into if they lost him to ND

I have a horrible feeling Bama is going to land Davis, Wilson and Juarez. Three 5 Star LB's... man that's some Kentucky basketball sh!t right there.

Of those three, I think we only end up with one. For the record, I think Wilson is far more overrated than Davis and Juarez. If NSD were today I would predict Davis to Bama, Wilson to Fla, and Juarez to UCLA.

I agree with the assement regarding Davis and Juarez. They are nasty and on another level.

"There's no doubt that Notre Dame is in Ben's top three," Wayne Davis said. "We're seriously considering them and exploring them these last couple of weeks."--rivals

according to rivals ND is MORE OF A PLAYER than most people think--the take away from the article not this blurb is that Georgia hasn't seen him this week, visits bama this weekend, then auburn and then ND will be back to see him that NEXT thursday---BK IN HOME

Autry Denson and Mike Elston both attended his basketball practice on Wednesday, and talked with the family afterwards. The conversations were good according to Davis' father.

Last report was that Davis said that we were number 2 and Bama/Georgia were tied for number 1. I wonder who is the fourth team to round out the top three.

I do think the real battle is Georgia/Bama, BUT we wouldn't be pushing this hard if we didn't think there was at least a sliver of hope.

Would be one of the biggest coupes I have ever seen if it happened, that's for sure.

No. 1 ILB and five-star LB Ben Davis has 'Bama at the top following official visit - Alabama - Scout

Don't kill the messenger.

Right now it's 'Bama, Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame, LSU," he said. "In that order. I had a great visit. I had a really great visit. It's still close. But I'm just going to see how it goes."

Davis will visit Auburn officially next weekend before a February 3 decision. He expects Auburn, Alabama and Notre Dame to visit with him this coming week.

"Alabama jumped ahead of Georgia for me right now,” Davis said. “They’ve always been the main ones contacting me. I still talk to Georgia a little bit but not as much."

"I’m going to Auburn this weekend and they are up there at my No. 3 school, but they may end up being my No. 1 school after this week. So I don’t know, we’ll just see how it goes.”

LOL. This is all theater. Just a few days ago ND was number 3 and now we've been passed by Auburn. Why, cause he's visiting Auburn this weekend and is building excitement. We were a pawn. He's going to commit to Bama. Everyone knows it.

Maybe we're still number 3.

I think the salient point is, forget the media quotes. Half are out of context, half are kids trying to please everyone, and half are stated or heard (emphasis on the later) by dumbshits.

The previous statement is not any kind of endorsement on what any seventeen year old, with the help of his parents is going to do past 2/1/16.

I guess it depends on your definition of "long time ago" is... he was on campus for an official visit 10 days ago. lol

In today's news cycle anything over 24 hours is a long time ago. 10 days? Heck that's like a year. I just think his visit was more of a courtesy call.

Can someone please tell me the last time ND recruited anyone worth anything out of Alabama? I think there was some teryon smith or something...3 star ILB that never got off the bench and was a career backup.

I understand pushing for the best but people in AL go to AL schools considering both in state schools have won NCs in the last decade. You arent going to come into AL and get the top talent when they are winning NCs every year or every other year. Sure, you will get the guys neither schools want but you arent getting the top guys like this guy.

Again, I understand the desire to give it your all but at some point, you need to know to utilize resources in more likely targets.

There aren't a ton of targets left on the board. Plus making your presence known around the school/ area can do no harm.

I agree but the time and resources ND (and this board alone) has put into this guy seems excessive considering the likelihood he comes to ND.

I live in Bama. The people here by large only care about football. I work with lawyers and agents all the time and it is always the same story. I joke all the time that the really winners of the ND vs AL NC game a couple of years back were the ND players because of the ND degree and it is just so completely lost on them.

Maybe if ND even remotely made that NC game respectful, the people here may have more respect.

Maybe in states more academically challenged (Tn has Vandy, etc) then more people would see the advantage of going to a school like ND that can do so much for them post college days but when you have Saban chewing out NFL talent, these kids cant see further than that pipe dream unfortunately.

Six pages? We've spent six pages arguing over whether we should smoke meat or not. This board hasn't spent much time on this kid and the coaching staff hasn't spent a ton of time either. I think it's been just about right. Enough to make him know we are really interested and make contacts in the area, but not so much that it takes our coaches away from other prospects.

from somogyi (rivals) recent ranking of states we recruit in:

36. Alabama (10)

The greatest Notre Dame player from the state is defensive end Justin Tuck (Kellyton), who was inadvertently recruited by Notre Dame while living out in the boondocks.

"There was another kid in my area who was pretty good, and Notre Dame accidentally came to the wrong high school and saw me play," said Tuck years ago in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.

After redshirting as a 2001 freshman linebacker, Tuck recorded 24.5 sacks from 2002-04. That is the school record since 1982, when Notre Dame first separated sacks from tackles for lost yardage. The two-time Super Bowl winner went on to a Pro Bowl career with the New York Giants before signing with the Oakland Raiders last year.

An honorable mention goes to 1993-97 defensive lineman Melvin Dansby (Birmingham), who came back from a severe injury to record a remarkable 103 tackles as a fifth-year senior lineman. Notre Dame didn't sign a player from Alabama until reserve defensive lineman Herman Hooten in 1968 - when the SEC was not even integrated with black players.

A couple of the more recent products from the state, cornerback LaBrose "Spiderman" Hedgemon II (Hoover) in 2003 and quarterback Eric Chappell (Montgomery) in 1996 transferred to Jackson State and Alabama A&M, respectively. This group also included a couple of walk-ons.
