Welcome aboard, Troy!

BTW, WTF is wrong with Scout. All they had to do to not ruin the kid's moment was NOT post a video or story before 4PM. You had ONE JOB, Scout. Seriously tho, ridiculous.

I have gotten behind on my Irish.

(Not to confuse with getting some Irish behind; or, getting up off my Irish behind.)

So I haven't seen a lot of film on this years recruits. I just watched Tony's. Man I was surprised; I didn't expect to be that impressed after everything written about him. (nationally, including his former ratings)

But this kid looks Pepper-esque. Not only does he have elite speed, but he has hands, and elite skills both ways!

Torii, take him under your wing! Congrats
Troy!

Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh! Agus, Téigh Gaeilge!

I'm in this boat...hadn't seen film until tonight...speed looks good, and based on the frequency most teams blew the pursuit angle on him when he had the ball, he is deceptively fast. He is really strong for his size...manhandled some folks while blocking, and just ran through some tackles. On D, He already squeezes the hell out of receivers on the outside, and he makes plays on the ball...and he put the wood to folks when he tackled...had pretty good discipline and technique in the open field tackling opportunities I saw. I didn't see anything that bothers me about this kid's game...nothin...and thats rare.

That would be interesting neg recruiting. Something like, "Hey, did you see us hang on to beat them by 2 at home in an epic monsoon, when they missed 2 2 point conversions and turned the ball over 3-4 times? How could you want to go there?"

More like, "You know when you are around those Yankee motherfuckers, it rubs off on you!"

Also, I saw a couple of other pictures posted of him, and he is either still growing, or they are under on his measurables. One picture in particular, he seemed to tower above BK. Usually guys that they call six foot look like they are two to three inches taller than him.

(For that to be true in the first place; A) Kelly must use lifts, B) I am really two inches taller than I thought, C) everyone that takes their picture next to BK must be asked to stand barefooted, and/or D) The camera used creates an optical 'delusion' making the guy to camera's right look taller. [Kelly always has recruits stand to his right in photo plus one.]

I am thinking this is a Josh Adams kind of guy, just popping a little earlier than Josh did!

They were neg recruiting the depth chart and how we already had 6 DBs in this class

I like mine better. It is so much more inflammatory. For the next time we get to play Clemson, don't 'cha know!

PS. Of course your way makes the Clemson coaches/recruiters look downright stupid. What sales pitch would ever be successful based upon a prospect doubting their own abilities? Like : If I shouldn't play for them because I might not be good enough, why work so hard to get me to play for you?

Not doubting you arrowryan, in fact there is every reason to believe you are right, because lots of people, otherwise top of their fields, are stupid that way!

Per Loy, clemson was neg recruiting ND to him

I get it's a cutthroat business, recruiting, but I wish more kids would put courting schools on blast when they do it.

Let's not act like they didn't win the game.

What was negative recruiting based on?

It's cold? Class work is tough? It's geographically challenged? CB's in the league? The amount of DB's in the '15 & '16 classes?

It's their job to point out those features. I'd hammer ND on those if I coached for somewhere else.

If it's Kelly's purple face or Kelly leaving for the NFL then that's different because they will get the purple face no matter where they go and Dabo is closer to getting the Bama job than Kelly is to getting any particular NFL job.

They tried to neg recruit how the 2016 class already had 6 DBs

Who is in the dime package next year assuming KVR will not be back?

Cole Luke, Shaun Crawford, Nick Coleman, Max Redfield, and Devin Studstill? That leaves Nick Watkins, Devin Butler, Mykelti Williams and Troy Pride on the sideline. The other DBs in this class are almost guaranteed to red shirt. There is a lot of unproven, but also promising, depth on the back end of the defense.

I think the question is, is that negative recruiting?

Because if they just state a fact, not so much!

But as soon as they talk about a coach playing favorites, or being a lousy developer, etc., etc., then they have crossed the line.

Maybe you know how the Clemson staff made it personal and negative; please clue us in.

"Taking a lot of defensive backs never bothered me," said Pride. "Some teams actually negatively recruited against Notre Dame because of that. That kind of rubbed me the wrong way though. I know that I’m a hard worker and I grind harder than anyone. I’m not going to put anyone ahead of me.

It isn't just me assuming Clemson neg recruited. This is what he said in an interview with 247

Dime package would be 6 DB's, right?

Redfield and another safety (Sebastian? Tranquill? Williams? A frosh?)
And then 4 CB's, or 3 CB's and a third safety depending on the opposing offense.
Luke, Crawford, Coleman... then maybe Watkins or one of the freshmen corners against a true spread, or Butler or a safety against a team that will primarily run the ball out of 4 WR sets.

And deservedly so, he had 2 INT's in the Blue/Grey all star game today. One was a pick 6.

I'd love it if our CB's played in the jocks of the opposing WR's, MacKenzie Alexander type sht. Enough of the 6 yard gimme passes.

Haha. Yep. This reminds me of something my coach used to say to us...

"Boys ... I want you so far up in their business I want you to be able to tell me the color of the grapes on their Fruit of The Looms."
