Surveillance video shows shooting though driver's window of police car. Suspect in custody. Suspect declared allegiance to Isis in police interrogation. The gun used was stolen form an officer's home several years ago. In response to question police chief noted the owner of the stolen weapon was disciplined at the time.

In live PC Police Commissioner Richard Ross described it as attempted assassination. Shooter said he did it for Islamic State. Shooter has a police record. Shooter started shooting from across the street at the cop in a moving car then walked over to the car and continued shooting through the driver's window. Officer Jessie Harnett was hit 3 times in the left arm.

Suspect in Pa. cop ambush said he acted 'in the name of Islam,' police confirm | Fox News

The man caught in surveillance footage ambushing a Philadelphia officer in a squad car, shooting him multiple times with a stolen police gun, acted "in the name of Islam," police said at a news conference Friday.

The suspect was wearing "Muslim garb," a law enforcement source told Fox News. The source would not elaborate. Local media identified the man as 30-year-old Edward Archer.

Officer Jessie Hartnett was in stable condition at a hospital, police said. The suspect fired a total of 13 shots Thursday night, according to Police Commissioner Richard Ross. At least three bullets struck the officer in his left arm.

"We are working side-by-side with the Philadelphia Police Department. They remain the lead agency as we work together to gather information about the attack on their officer," the FBI announced.

Hartnett returned fire, hitting his attacker at least three times, Ross added.

lmao Philadelphia's pussy of a mayor said the shooting had nothing to do with "being a Muslim or the Islamic faith."

I say this as someone who supports expanded gun control... but it bothers me that the article closes with the mayor saying "there's too many guns on the streets and the national government needs to do something about that"... when the gun used was stolen from a cop? What law stops that? Seems completely irrelevant to the incident at hand, but of course someone is going to try to leverage it for political gain.

Terrible. Hope the officer makes a full recovery and thankful it was not life threatening.

That said, SMDH at the Mayor. His comments "there are too many guns on the street and the federal government needs to do something about it". Okay, fine, except the gun used here was stolen from a police officer's house.

EDIT: Lax beat me by a few seconds.

But that it had something to do with gun control laws. Can't make this stuff up.

Par for the course.

Republicans: Ban all Muslims!
Democrats: Ban all guns!

I'm grateful the officer wasn't killed. Situation obviously could've been a lot worse. I choose to focus on that aspect.

NYPD has issued an alert to all officers about the Philadelphia officer shot.

I expect it will be issued to all departments in the nation today. I don't expect it to come from the President/Attorney General.

What would you recommend that the President does? I'm not being argumentative. I'm curious what you think.

A police officer was shot with a stolen weapon. How is expanded back ground checks going to stop a crazy person killing in the name of Islam.

The only thing worse is to take away all guns so that no body can defend them self

This isn't about gun laws, it's about religion.

Leftist logic: quick to defend Islam when someone commits murder, quick to blame all gun owners for gun crime. Amazing.

It sounds like you're referring to the group we have now identified as the 'regressive left'. These people are just as frustrating as teabaggers to us "real" libs. The bulk of them are middle-upper middle class 20 somethings with a closet full of participation trophies. A good amount have attended college, pursuing, but not necessarily finishing, liberal arts degrees. They are too PC for anyone's good and are more than happy to toss their liberal convictions straight out the window if any religion other than Christianity is being ridiculed. As a liberal, I can't stand them.
On a side note, I purchased a new AR-15 this morning.
