You are mixing reality with a hypothetical. Stanley and Jaylon wouldn't leave in my hypothetical. Also I don't think 99.99% is accurate for Jaylon. Everyone has assumed he is gone but I think there is a ~20% chance he stays if we lose this game. He will have unfinished business.

Pass that over here.

I don't do blowouts. They linger for decades. I'll let 2 of the 3 QB's transfer before I take a blowout loss like the Oregon St. Fiesta Bowl in '01.

I just thought a few things:

Bad news: ND is 0-3 in AZ since I moved there during the 2000 season.

Bad News: ND is 0-3 against OSU's over those 3 games and play another on Friday.

Good News: I've slept more in Cali this season than in AZ so the curse is reversed.

.

Just make sure your butt is not in AZ on Friday.

Tweet 1: True and sad for ND. Although you can't blame a recruiter for looking at him and saying... He's gonna be an All-World skrong safety.

Tweet 2: Lie... switched because Warinner and Hinton went to Columbus and Ronnie Stanley committed to ND. He made the right move, could have ended up the RT at ND and his checkbook would have taken a hit because of it when it came NFL time.
.

I don't know what he'll grade out at, but the NFL will find the right position for him.

Agree with the masses. i want to win this game in the worst way. I prayed that all I wanted for Christmas was a Notre Dame Win over Ohio State in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl.

On a side note...watching that video made me realize how much this defense missed Drue once he went down with the knee injury. All that kid does is make plays.

To our staff's defense, we were deep at RB and he would have made one hell of a defensive back. Considering the short NFL lifespan of a RB, he would have probably done just as well or better as a db.

But only if he could learn how to play his responsibilities effectively lol.

Hey BVG...sometimes it's not the pupil, sometimes it's the teacher. What he meant to say is being able to "run our defense" is way more important than consistently getting blown up by blockers, being too slow to cover in space, taking unrealistic angles, blah, blah, blah.
Giving Urbie a month to game plan how to exploit/isolate Joe scares me....puts a lot of pressure on those around him in our front seven.

I highly doubt that Jaylon or Ronnie need time to make a decision. They are going pro. Can you blame them? No but we can all sit here and say oh I would stay and play one more year, but none of us are in that position to make a decision like that so we would never know.

I would leave in a heart beat if I were him.

As long as I were healthy.

One year left of school that will be there after he makes a few million in the league.

No brainer IMO

Like you said though we can always hope but I won't be mad when he makes the decision either way

If someone offered me $5,000,000 to forego my senior year I swear to God I would turn it down knowing how much that year meant to my life. Forged bonds with people that will never be broken and had experiences I will never forget. His risk of injury would be mitigated by insurance and he won't lose much draft stock, if any, by staying another year. He will be a top 10 pick if healthy. Not saying he should stay but I don't think it's crazy for him to want to complete his time at ND.

Reminds me a bit of Manziel wanting to play for Texas, but Mack Brown saw him as a Safety and not as a QB.

I read an article recently that showed it's nearly impossible to actually collect that insurance money if something does happen.

Thank you for posting this.

Unless they start issuing speculative insurance policies that covers multiple scenarios at agreed upon payouts that are not based on market variables... (like the collector car world uses for historic Ferrari's lets say) there is NO way I pass up being a top 10 pick to be a Top 5 the following year. Opportunity cost is far too high.

You're not in that position and I assume you're not 21 or 22 so you've changed since you were that age. You nor I can really say what we would do given the exact same circumstances because we're not experiencing it. Second, those insurance policies aren't as cut and dry as an auto policy or homeowners. From what I've read there are a lot of stipulations built into those. They all don't automatically pay out everything and many tie to the severity of the injury and how it would impact earnings. For instance if you broke an arm and didn't get drafted, there's a good chance the policy will only pay what you might have earned that year. Now that you're healed, it stops paying because you're healthy enough to play. There's a lot of variations and costs involved in getting a policy. One that pays a flat $5 million dollars with no stipulations would probably costs several thousands of dollars a month. The NCAA has a loan program to help pay for policies. One to cover Jaylon would cost about $20K - $30K for the year.

He nailed it.

Don't fret boys. I remember when Holtz sent Ricky Watters and Tony Brooks home right before the USC game. Irish sucked it up, pulled together and beat the Trojans.

On Saturday my buddy sent me a photo of a dude who appeared to be Max playing pickup hoops in Laguna Beach. We thought it was really weird that he would be risking injury like that less than a week before a bowl game, even assuming that he wasn't already supposed to be with the team. Now I wonder if he knew he would be suspended?

Seriously though... does this leave us with two healthy corners and three healthy safeties?

Luke, Coleman, Farley, Barratti, and Shumate?
