So we lambasted Saban last year for accidentally running into someone (can't remember the recruit) while in LA and here we are with Sanford. Those who live in a glass house....or is it pot and kettle?

Hoping when the time comes and the position opens down the line, Sanford will be the front runner and want to run ND program. Guy hustles and seems to get it.

Reading between the lines, "Wife said we've moved enough. You're keeping your butt here for a while!" lol
From Sanford's end: There is no better place for me right now to learn how to win football games as a head coach than ND.
I can say from 3rd hand info, that Sanford absolutely LOVES ND, as does his family. They are extremely happy at ND and in South Bend.
I'm not the only one!!!!! haha
South Bend's current mayor is a rock star. Do you feel his changes are helping make South Bend a "real" city again?
100% yes. Here's hoping Mayor Pete sticks around for quite awhile (I see governor in his future though). The guy is doing SO much for South Bend to lead it towards a recovery. Moving away from a run down "post-industrial" city attitude and towards a modernized technology-based center. The guy just gets what making a city great is about.
And, it goes without saying that a great South Bend would be invaluable for ND. If we've been this successful with a less than optimal college town, imagine what a vibrant surrounding area could do for us... holy cow.
That's awesome to hear! I hope we get to keep him for a while. Seems his presence has already started paying dividends and can only get better.I can say from 3rd hand info, that Sanford absolutely LOVES ND, as does his family. They are extremely happy at ND and in South Bend.

“Coach Sanford is a phenomenal recruiter,” said McKinley. “He’s with the times. He’s with our generation. He connects with us well. He builds good relationships with the guys he’s recruiting. I just think he cares about what he’s doing and the guys he recruits.”
“She thinks he’s a really fun guy to talk to,” said McKinley. “She really liked him throughout my recruitment. She’s just like everyone else who likes him. He’s genuine and he’s fun to be around and get to know. He’s taken an interest in getting to know me and my family, which they like.”

So far the assistant coaching hires have been home runs on the recruiting circuit and pretty darn good on the field. I expect that the recruiting benefits will get even better as Denson, Sanford, and Lyght develop relationships at these Florida, Cali, and Texas schools.
Lyght still has a lot to prove as a coach.
the safety play for me is baffling especially for Redfield who is primarily the deep safety, like its either Cover1 or Cover 2 a huge amount of the time right? how can be so out of position regularly?
I don't know this to be fact so if someone does I'm willing to listen butiIt looks to me like there are too many checks, that if the offense shows X this we do Y, if the offense shows A then we do B, etc. I think there are so many of those and nobody in the secondary is at a Joe Schmidt level of understanding that this is what we get. So for me its not necessarily what they are doing is too complex its that there is too much inventory that needs to be recalled at a moments notice.
