Not to rain on the parade but the kid is going to take visits after he declares. Unless ND tells him not to they are going to have to battle until the end.

I completely agree but would add that this kid and his family have it together and IMO, if he commits on January 2nd to whoever, he's not flipping a month later.

What does he mean by unstable? Coaching staff?

Just says 'instability within the football program' regarding Texas. I'm guessing it's just the impatience of Texas and Charlie Strong, but that's based on nothing.

Lax is the board cynic. Not a rip, but if you guys don't notice that yet, you must be sober.

He stepped out of his shell one time to call BVG a gangster, and that blew up and put him right back in his optimistic shell, lol.

Thinking the same thing, LAX. You've been the most skeptical the last few days. I'm curious what you're hearing that's different than what's being reported.

I had heard recently, rather definitively, that he's not leaving the state. I seriously question if this is all an over-reaction to him not taking any visits to A&M and Texas recently... and if he takes visits after he announces, then even if the announcement is for the good guys I see it as a tough hold.

It's pretty easy to talk someone out of "uneasiness" and "instability" with a good face to face. Or even a good phone call.

Here is my speculation on how I think it went down. McCulloch had his in-home visits and shortly after decided that ND was his leader. With what's going on at A&M and Texas he basically eliminated them and therefore didn't take the visit. I think the idea that he will take visits after his commitment is him trying to out off the pressure by local fans and coaches. I think ND has a good of a shot as anyone right now and if he announces for ND on Jan 2, I don't think he takes visits. No info, JMO.

FWIW, this isn't us trying to pull the normal Texas kid out of Texas. 4.0 student, comes from a very good family, and momma really likes ND.

This part gives one some confidence. Thanks.

This is practically fan fiction, but I like it so I'm going to choose to believe it.

I can see this being a one time, caught up in the moment comment that sticks in a reporters mind and people put too much weight into it that there really is. Hope I'm wrong.

ND has a good history when the prospect values academics, gets ND, and his mother is fully on board.

I think Loy does a pretty good job overall, but I feel most confident when Wiltfong puts the CB down in conjunction with Loy. I will say this though, Loy stood firm on his opinion of what Hayes would do, and he was spot on. Hopefully he is on to something again.

Loy doesn't throw down predictions as much anymore. Usually when he throws down a CB now it is because he has a good reason to

Yep, he has come a long way imo, and is doing a tremendous job. I do think the backlash he was getting was merrited at the time, but he has stepped his game up big-time to become a great source for us recruiting addicts lol. Recruiting is pretty fluid anyway, and as long as he sticks to his sources and provides the information as it comes (which he has done a great job with lateley), then we have nothing to complain about.

I had 't seen that. Would be nice to to get big-brother to help when the time comes. Studs from Texas along the defensive line are always welcome!

Why not believe him? I know he has a horrible reputation (and participated in a hilarious flame war with that Texas reporter) but he's saying the same thing that pretty much every other source has said... that he's not leaving the state. The only side of this that feels ND has a good chance are the ND folks, which usually means they're wrong. I'm, personally, reserving judgment until I hear something promising from a non-ND source.

he doesn't have the most stellar reputation as you know....its fine if he doesn't believe he is leaving the state. ..but doesn't it seem weird that the vibe the sources ND is getting is positive but that he keeps the texas schools at bay with keeping the pressure to stay home a bit at ease....i would actually prefer he NOT announce until signing day but with the way things are going at A&M(SUMLIN could be out of there soon, pissing off boosters/athletic dept, trying to convince murray to focus ONLY on football, holding the athletic dept hostage which is what someone plugged into the university feels is happening as he then bolts to NFL)

I think McCulloch could be one of the most important pieces to this class. Let's hope he sees that and realizes he has a national stage, every game televised waiting on him in South Bend.
