Seems like both McIntosh and Jones Jr. are destined for redshirts unless something bad happens to our depth chart. Any reason to expect either gets PT next year?

I'd expect Jones to play. Despite Folston's return, ND needs a power back.

I can def see this. We are going to have a wealth of talent at RB if TF can come back the same (or better) and everyone else develops like they should and stays heathy.

Anyone see some Christian McCaffrey in his game? And if you don't you're you know what.

I definitely see a little McCaffrey. I wasnt originally a big fan of his game but watching it more I see some positive traits. He defintely does not have the home run speed and is not huge. I just hope when he gets to campus he does not turn into Amir. (saying that Amir could have been good the injuries just hurt him a lot speed wise)

I think Josh Adams will look much different next year and be up to 225-230 so I could see him being our power back don't you think? I think Jones will play though, he is extremely underrated. Just look at his offer list, it says it all.

doesn't impact alloway as of right now per wiltfong

Interesting. Think they are very similar players. I like McIntosh's tape more then Alloway's. Rather take a DL or DB instead of Alloway tbh. Dont think he's that good

Adams runs hard, but he is never going to be a thick back if that makes sense. He isn't going to ever look like he is 225 or 230. He will be able to use his strength in open space like last weekend on his 98-yard run, but his body is so long that it's an easy target at times in short yardage and he isn't able to cut like Jones.

Jones will be around 5'10, 215-220 when he arrives with a lower center of gravity and the ability to cut on a dime. Jones has quick feet, which allow him to stick his foot in the ground, make the cut and then has the power to accelerate. Adams simply doesn't have that and by no means am I saying Adams isnt a good back or won't play next year.

Jones will provide Notre Dame with a guy that can make a quick cut when there is penetration and get 3 yards on 3rd and 2. Adams can't make those plays. Folston can, but durability will be a question mark if he makes a full return and then trusting his body to make those cuts is another thing he will need to overcome.

This. I'm hesitant to pigeonhole a back as I believe players can truly learn to adapt their running style and I believe Adams can learn to pick up those short yards but it may take a while and as you said, he doesn't typically have the build seen for those plays. He's a big play back, he's more likely to go 1, 1, 18 than 5, 5, 5.

BUT...... he ran extremely hard against Pitt. It's been a long time since I've seen a back hit the hole that hard. You could tell him mind was made up, there was no hesitation. I hope he keeps that form.

I don't know. Adams might just look like Eddie George by the time he's a senior.

Good post!

He did run extremely hard against Pitt, and Wake I thought too.

His problem against Wake wasn't effort, or long body, offensive line, or etc. His problem was the play calling. Same as against Temple with CJ. You can't force ten pounds in a five pound bag. Running selections must change against the teams that stack the box with active, stunting, scheming front seven players.

And that is where Josh, and Deon will be able to help the program, if the coaches take advantage of their skills.

As far as Josh cutting, maybe he isn't the all time greatest, but twice now on options to the right, his cutback to the left has faked all defenders out of their jocks, and resulted each in a touchdown. I think he is deceptive in his ability to cut; as is DeShone Kizer.

The are both long and strong, the way they run makes them look slower than they are, and a whole lot less as far as quickness and change of direction.

Pad level, you are certainly right; he may be a bit high yet.

I don't know. Adams might just look like Eddie George by the time he's a senior.

Bingo!

I'm not very impressed to be honest. Is he going to be a slot? He is pretty slight for a RB.

I was going to post the exact thing. It looked like he played against decent compeitition but he didn't look dominant. Liked his junior film better.

I really like his ability to get down hill quickly. What is the talent level his playing against in that Area?
